I can't remember watching any YT rendition of this incredible work where the conductor didn't seem to be really enjoying the music and this one is no exception. I love the expressions on Stéphane Denève's face.

This recording is arguably the best Faure Requeim on KZfaq. The choir is well rehearsed and the blend, balance, and intonation are top notch. The conductor's tempos are nicely paced and never rushed. The Pie Jesu is too operatic for this work however; it should be gentler with far less vibrato (my opinion). I question one thing, though. In measure 82 of the Agnus Dei, (the recapitulation of the opening theme), why is there an A natural in the bass line on beat 3 instead of an Ab as written in the score?

Diese Aufnahme ist kein Höhepunkt. Sopranistin singt unrein und hat ein zu starkes Vibrato. Bariton im Libera forciert und die Tonhöhen sind teilweise schwammig. Der Chor leider häufig unpräzis. ☹. Gestern eine fast perfekte Aufführung in der Tonhalle Zürich mit Paavo Järvi gehört.
