I was the same with Action Force/GI Joe. I thought the toys were cool looking, but the setting and storyline didn't grab me. I think I was a little too young to fully appreciate it. I preferred toys with more of a fantasy element (He-Man, Star Wars, Transformers, etc), so the military stuff didn't appeal to me until I was older.

@@Rocket1377 my mom was, and still holds true, that she never liked the idea of kids playing with guns... so we never owned a toy gun or anything of the nature... aside from space blasters in Star Wars I can't think of many other toys I had the would have had guns. Hell, I even had a few Gargoyles when that started coming out but still no guns. The whole thing stemed from her belief that playing with guns would kinda "desensitize" a kid into thinking they were fun, or a toy etc and how easy it is for kids in their imagination to pull out an invisible gun or toy gun, point it at a person, and "fire" and she always felt it unnerving for a child to do this. She was also a cop up until I was born... I'm the 80s... and she did have her police issued gun in the house. I never used it, I never played with it or looked for it, but I know it was in the house and I didn't ever look for it. ... so military toy lines she probably wouldn't have bought for me even if I did like the cartoon lol

Of course, why didn't I think of that?

Shipwreck was one of those "just rip open and enjoy" type figures that I may have to swing back around to.

White base, yellow/or green? fur parts, purple face cover? That's the one I had, too. It looked to me like a ninja version of snow serpents. The snake shaped rocket sled that version came with would be badass in classified!

@@Psychof1st I ended looking it up, I remembered the purple facemask, thought it had more but its yellow and the limbs were white. But it did have a purple snowboard.

@@shincedon655 The purple snowboard is the best part! It had a snake sculpted into it at the front, and rocket engines at the back. I think the file card called it a rocket sled. I don't exactly remember how much purple was on the figure. I was just mentioning the notable details of the design. And I liked the figure because, it gave "snow ninja" vibes. I think I had just missed out on the version 1 snow serpents when I started getting Joes. Like Scarlet because, she was released year 1 in 1982. My first ones were from 85-86. So, I didn't know many of the figures that existed because, I was very young, likely picking through whatever lasted on the pegs the longest. Lady Jaye and Quick Kick were my 1st two. I was describing it by memory. But, I think I got the important details. I'm a bit color blind. So, eyes/brain have trouble perceiving certain information about color. Like I'm missing something about certain greens where it takes someone telling me it's green, and not yellow. So, I default to, "It's yellow/green" because, I know I could be mistaken when I say only one of those colors. I can tell a Hydra soldier's green body suit from Wolverine's banana yellow. But, I've come across a bright vibrant yellow-green where I seem to only pick up the yellow and miss the trace amounts of blue.

@@Psychof1st Yeah I thought there was more purple than when I looked him up. It had been so long and I no longer have him as he sold in a garage sale 20+ years ago with the rest of my collection.

@@shincedon655 I kept all my Joes from the 80's. But, my mom let my nephew get in to them and boy was I mad. Not sure anymore what ones I lost because, of that. But, I retrieved the most important ones I could remember. She did that several times before my yelling at her finally sunk in that they're valuable not just to me but, could be very valuable to someone else. Meaning big money for me unless some little kid destroys them. That was 15-20 years ago, now! I think I still have the snow serpent one place. And the snowboard another place with a lot of other figure's accessories. It will be a fun project for my retirement replacing all their O-rings. Time made them stiff and brittle. Most were broken last time I looked at them. The plastic pieces are still intact. I just the plastic threading for the screws don't give way when I do that.

I don't have Grunt yet.

Oh, I had MASK, seems like it was before my toy burying days and not as extensive as Star Wars, Transformers, and MOTU.

The crotch has always had that set-up, with a rubber overlay.

The old Marvel Handbooks were required breakfast reading material when I was a kid, over and over and over!

@@TheFwoosh Oh I still have a few. The funny thing is that as soon as you mentioned him some image from 30 years ago smashed right into my brain. It was a very surprising memory unlock.

Those are my favorite, something I haven't thought about in years suddenly flooding back. The Ramen Toys 80s Commanders Blue Antagonist Cyborg did that to me recently and it's still sitting here because of it.

Also wish that the snowboard bindings were adjustable, I can't have all my troops riding down the mountain goofy footed, as a 25+ yr regular footed skateboarder it just won't do 😕
