Really enjoyed this interview. Some very heavy topics were discussed. The issue in Pakistan is that a) there isn’t proper awareness of what constitutes harassment b) there is no due process to report harassment and c) retaliation is a major concern. I work for a fortune 100 firm in the USA and over the past 10 years, the focus on awareness and response to workplace harassment has increased dramatically. We have annual trainings to remind us what constitutes harassment through elaborate scenarios and quizzes. Also what to do if you witness harassment or are a victim. And then we have a hotline that opens a case when an incident occurs and does due diligence to determine if there is a pattern of harassment. On the flip side , we are also taught how to avoid situations that could be misconstrued . For example, avoid meeting another employee alone in a room with the door closed, unless door has a window (which most of our offices have ). The point being that there is a lot of focus on education and a wealth of information available to educate people. With such rigorous training, no one can claim ignorance in the event of such an incidence taking place. The issue with Faisal’s stance is that he doesn’t appear to have awareness for which I don’t entirely blame him. His comment regarding sohail javed was very problematic. You know it’s so strange that in Pakistan there is this perception that the west is morally corrupt and people have no values. It’s so the opposite. It’s so so so conservative here. Especially cooperate America. For crying out loud, People quit jobs/ change departments if they fall in love with a colleague!!

Thank you for pointing this out. I had a hard time sitting through the entire interview but thought he may redeem himself. Now I wonder if it's because of an American perspective. I still believe that what constitutes sexual harassment is universal. I think the 'boys will be boys' culture which he so jokingly mentions is the root of the problem. Thank you Aamna for calling out victim blaming. I'm sorry to say that I was disappointed in a lot of what he said.

Ur so right he literally blamed the victims then tried to immediately cover up as soon as Amna called him out. Hasan and Amna should rly address the problems with what Faisal said. He said he believes the director because he has “known him for many years”. Sometimes we know people for our whole lives and don’t know what they’ve done! I really lost a lot of respect for him after this interview.

Saira Saim I hear you. The whole bit where he mentioned his boy gathering where he asks the girls to step away was cringe worthy. I think we had that sort of culture in USA maybe in the 90s but woaaa can’t even imagine anyone even saying that out loud now . It’s gross and reminds me of dirty old men like trump who are remnants of that , thankfully bygone, era. And faisals comment about sitting together with the victim and talking it all out basically demonstrated his complete lack of understanding about how any of this works. Major face palm moment

Hira Imran ughh I know. That was another very problematic comment. I think the way our culture and media depicts molesters is part of the problem . “Darinda” , “hewaan” and that sort of verbiage gives the impression that rapists are a different form of homosapien and it could never be someone you know whereas the truth is far from that. Faisals comment was exactly on those lines. I know the guy, he’s normal hence he cannot be a rapist😒

Im not a pakistani n but American but first a Human, Insaan first and this Legend my heart goes out to him for his honesty , for his transparency , for the real person that he is and ofcourse his amazing. Faisal Qureshi is one actor who changes his get up for almost very role. 👍Very clear, honest , mature interview. I am so glad the female director, Faisal mentioned, said no to slapping a woman. Not all women writers, directors understand or take a stand on not showing women abuse in dramas. He also was very honest telling how highly foreign educated feudal lords in our country make people kiss their hands and even do sadjas in front of them, become peers, Gaddi nasheen, looting money from poor people. I also agree that if a girl is harassed in the industry, she can put her foot down and not compromise. Girls can set limits.

Mahnoor Qureshi it’s true that girls can set their own limits BUT being harassed by somebody is NEVER the victims fault! If somebody is assaulted during shooting or whatever of course she can leave the project but it’s terrible that it happened in the first place! He is denying that it even happens. Disgusting.

Hira Imran I think he said it happens everywhere not only in Pakistan. Boys are asked for money. It should not happen, but then nothing should be be more than self respect of girls. They should expose such characters, instead of staying quiet, even if it means losing a drama or two.

Mahnoor Qureshi yes but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen in Pakistan.. just Bcz it happens everywhere does NOT lessen the horror of it. It’s easy to say to a victim “why didn’t u speak up?”.. in our society - not just Pakistan, all over the world - it’s extremely hard for women to speak about such things as most believe either don’t believe them or attack the woman’s character instead.

@@hiraimran2848 Pakistan is the 4th or the 6th most dangerous country for women. Harassment is in every work place for our women. In show biz atleast, young educated girls of good families are coming and acting is not their bread n butter. They can speak up and not compromise. We have seen most girls working in India with dignity like sajjal, marhira, saba but then we have veena malik type.There are good and bad in both genders in our industry.

@@hasnain9654 Just relax! Isn't it weird that the limitations are placed on intersex interactions SO that they can be respectful only, which doesn't make dekhna/glancing haram just btw. That makes the engagements between two people from opposite genders very platonic and reliable for the needful, almost as if the two were siblings. If they crossed the dosti zone, they'd be dating and aunties would be like, "Told ya. Men and women can never be just friends" and that my friend of what might be the opposite gender, is what you view with contempt.

I wish you guys had opened up FQ's interview to questions cause I have to say he's a through an through class act and I would have loved to send in a few questions or comments for him. You can notice all the big actors of the 90s and 00s like FQ Adnan and Humayun etc are extremely humble and modest when it comes to their skills and fame. They never speak ill of any senior or junior actors. Ba adab ba naseeb be adab be naseeb. Our current talent really needs to learn this from the established actors. FQ was doing a fantastic job promoting Pakistani movies and songs from the past to the present in his morning show Salam Zindagi. It's sad that they kibosh-ed the show and kept Nida's show on the air. Khair I digress, but people like me who appreciate Pakistani content don't always get a platform to let our appreciation known. Also lol his phobia of airplanes was much talked about on his morning show!

Thank you for doing this interview Amina. I am a big FQ fan. However, had to stop watching the interview after 27 minutes when he implied that girls bring on harassment upon themselves by the way they behave. So many of the desi men believe this and it makes my skin crawl. With all the Corona stress I couldn't continue watching another thing that makes me fume. FQ is a great actor but I am sorry this disappointed me so much. Hats off to you Amina for staying calm and questioning even when we can tell you completely disagree with the star (case in point the 'Quran pe kasam' and then the harassment point of view).

My God! Responsibilities lie on both man and woman. Woman to be modest in clothing and man to lower their gaze. If Allah says in Quran it means its final. I dont understand why women in the name of feminism keep insisting on wearing whatever they want that directly against the Quran????in the name of enlightening they try to justify their actions saying its 21 century. So what Quran is to be followed till qayamat. Women say like they are more sane than Allah? Do whatever you want but atleast dont question Allah's hukum. You will be responsible for your deeds.

And what Faisal is saying that it is a romantic story, that is a massive problem - harass, kidnap, forcefully marry and justify this as a love story - kya bakwas hain
