Like a comfort character. I like how his name was kinda from fandom and adopted by the devs. Eclipse was originally a glitched Sun that was Sun's body with Moon's voicelines and the habits of both. Oh, and of course, can kill you as Moon.

I hace a theory that Moondrop was controlled by Glitchtrap, and was still under Afton's control,and by rebooting them Sun was able to get him back.If you think about Moon's plushies, they have blue eyes,not red.

Based on how Sun says "we need to be whole" i believe that once upon a time there was only Eclipse. Then, something happened to Eclipse, who had full control over his discord light/dark theme settings, that replaced him with Sun and Moon, who ran on minecraft daylight sensors. One day, Sun discovered how violent Moon gets and the rest is history.

​@rickygamingproductions I don't think Sun and Moon merch DISPROVES that theory. Fazbear Entertainment got rid of Bonnie and re-themed Bonnie bowl with a diffrent design of Bonnie? They also replaced Foxy with Roxy? It's clear they aren't against re-themeing a character to covering something up. Heck, even the Security Breach Files says that the Moondrop candies were made to make Moon look nicer to the kids, but it's not how he actually acts. Maybe that's why the Eclipse arcade machine is hidden away? The theory of Eclipse being the original daycare attendant makes sense. Sun even says they need to make them "whole". Aka putting two things together into one thing. Sun + Moon = Eclipse. Sun even has drawings of Eclipse, and it's very clear that Eclipses personality is a balance of Sun and Moon. Which is why they are calm, they even do Moon's wave! Maybe Sun and Moon's backstory from the books is canon? Or Vanessa convinced Fazbear Entertainment to split them apart cuz it was part of Vanny's plan for Moon to turn out evil? I dunno, but I certainly wouldn't rule out a theory with this much evidence just cuz of merch! Especially with a company as shady as Fazbear Entertainment

Good news! There's A LOT of evidence to suggest that Eclipse isn't a third AI, but is instead a fusion of Sun and Moon's personalitys. Sun doesn't tell us to get rid of Moon, he says "we need to be whole". Moon cares about the rules TOO MUCH and is focused on punishing children. Sun is more friendly but very paranoid and overwhelming. But Eclipse balances out their personality, they care about the rules but also care about people. They are more calm and not anxious since they don't have anything to worry about anymore. Also? "Eclipse?" An Eclipse is when the Sun passes over the Moon (or vice versa) So an Eclipse is quite literally a mixture of the Sun and the Moon. Why would they name them that if they wasn't the case?? I think that is a happier ending, plus it had more evidence! :D Moon isn't dead, he's just part of Eclipse now. I think Sun's last "thank you" was representing that, but not representing that they were separate.

It wouldn’t make sense if they were originally just Eclipse. There’s nothing in the Pizzaplex about Eclipse. No merch, promotions, or anything in the staff notes. It’s more likely that he comes out only rarely if he’s even separate from Sun and Moon at all. Although your other statements are highly likely :)

Kinda like how Sun shows up when it's day, and Moon when it's night? We never see what happens if you just dim the lights instead of turning them off completely do we?

I see Eclipse like a temporary reset mode for the two bots. If one or both are heavily malfunctioning to the point simple repairs can't fix them, they are factory reset and Eclipse comes out momentarily while this happens. Like a real eclipse, which comes and goes fast and does not last. This is why Sun returns briefly to thank you, as the defragmentation process is complete and Moon is possibly healed and they can go back to some sense of normalcy. On the flipside, Eclipse could also be a pure combining of the two animatronics, erasing the original personalities completely and rebooting them. Sun saying 'thank you' is his final send off before he fades away completely and Eclipse is left by his lonesome.

The singing (and I think the crying as well) isn't related to generators or how close you are standing to him. As long as you have the Vanny Mask on, Sun's singing voicelines will pop up at anytime. And of you don't have the Vanny mask on, then Moon will sometimes speak. But it's not related to standing next to them.

Since I think the mimic had something to do with the virus, they are still corrupted in Ruin which is why they act aggressive. Some seem like they sort of break out of it like Roxy and Chica
