Thank you for watching.
This is not something new Energy Suspension PolyurethaneTransmission and torque Mounts have been around forever and is a must for any 4th gen fbody Camaro Firebird.
I had to replace the mounts and figure I would make a video about it

NICE EXPLANATORY VIDEO! Thanks Maldo! By the way, next time you want to drill such hard steel rivets or anything, use some "cut & drill lube" a little "bench drill stand" and drill slowly, you'll save a lot of drill bits, and in the end it goes way faster.

you forgot to tighten the two top bolts in the tranny mount. it's weird seeing this now, I changed mine about 27 years ago. 89 Formula. the only other things I did was box the trailing arms and went with slightly softer rear springs. man, that thing would hook.

Great video. This gen Camaro used to be what I raced against in the 90s because I always had a foxbody. Now I have one and am enjoying it. From what I've seen the Lt1 with the Lt4 kit or 383 format will make good power.

Nice video sir. When you drilled out the rivets, did you have to attach the new piece to the bracket somehow?

Thank you so much for this vid. I'm getting ready to do the same with my 97 bc anytime I break traction I get a violent pop right under me. I grabbed the torque arm by the bushing and can literally move it slightly with just my human strength lol. So I can only imagine what it does when spinning tires. And the tranny mount looks really worn as well. Im doing this as soon as I get my next paycheck. Also getting the headers and y pipe as well.

Have you noticed if the transmission mount is a little to thick and throws the piñon angle off thus causing a lot of vibration ?
@maldo72
@maldo72 8 ай бұрын
Hi i had zero vibration problems.. if you notice in the video the way installed it not to move transmission around to much and tighten everything evenly also making sure the drive-train is and not cocked to one side or anther ... also with reinstalling the torque arm i use the jack on the rear pumpkin to line up the torque arm bolts so they drop in which insures the axle is straight its hard to explain ..

struggling with the torque arm reinstall. front bracket was never removed and with some grease i was able to slide the torque arm back in, but bolting the back is near impossible. the bottom holes line up but the top don’t, etc. i’ve tried raising the rear to different levels and no luck. how high does it need to be??
@maldo72
@maldo72 Жыл бұрын
you have to put the jack in the middle of the axle housing to get the torque arm to slide in correctly to drop the bolts back in .. (when you remove he torque arm the front of the differential droops down putting the jack under the front part of the housing straightens it out so you can get the torque arm to line with bolts )

Those poly engine mounts are a bitchhh in f body. I did mine when it was a bare short block which helped a lot but was a pain to get them lined up. Then guess what i did?! I put the bolts back in facing the wrong way so if i need to remove the bolt im gonna have to either remove headers or cut the bolt out as i hammer in a new one from the other side 😂😂. They hit my Kooks headers hahaha. Oh well. How close is your y pipe to your torque arm? I have umi relocation bracket with stock tq.arm, poly-engine,trans,tq arm and my catback is literally like 3mm from touching. Haven't gotten car running yet though.

Hey buddy the part number I got for the tranny mount is 3.1142 instead of 3.1108. Is that bad? They look exactly the same. Only difference is the knubs on the bottom of yours come up a little farther. But I don't think that'll matter. It said it was made for my 97 z28.
@maldo72
@maldo72 3 жыл бұрын
dont think it should make a difference as long as you can center the trans with driveshaft and axle

@maldo72 3 жыл бұрын
@@bigsutton what I mean the tranny and driveshaft should sit in line with each other sometime with aftermarket mounts there are slots that allow a slight amount of adjustment very easy to spot just look at the yoke that goes into trans vs were the u- joints it(should be straight
@bigsutton
@bigsutton 3 жыл бұрын
Oh I see. Yeah it's straight. However I do notice a little rougher ride. I think that just has to do with the way harder materiel the poly is than the rubber.
