This is the haircut I've been wanting for so long, but when I tell stylists nowadays that I want my hair feathered they have no idea how to do it. They interpret it as layered, which is similar, but different. I was a teen in the 80's and this is one of the few haircuts that actually works with my thick, wavy hair because it takes a lot of the heaviness out of it. I want my son to have this haircut too. Now I have a video that I can show to a stylist on how to do this haircut! Yay!

According to my dad, that exact hairstyle was at its peak between 1979- 1982, my dad had thta hairstyle and now it’s my turn 😁 thanks!

If you drop out the bottom for extra length you have the rest of the 80s. You can even perm the bottom and leave the feathering on top.

So glad I found this tutorial from you! I started cutting my husband's hair since the beginning of the pandemic when everything was in 'lockdown' out of necessity and even though he says I do a better job than any of the stylists that he's gone to, I know it's not that perfect. I am not a hair stylist and was hoping that my cutting his hair would only be temporary. He still loves this same hair style that he has had for the last 45 years and it suits him. I see from this tutorial the mistakes I've made and the things that I've done correctly so now I have more confidence to continue on (since apparently I'm now his permanent hair stylist)! You've explained every step perfectly! Thanks for this!

I just started to watch you today, and I love the way you are free flowing, and you sound like your from Jersey as am I. I was dying on min 14:24 “guess what, its gotta come off” lmbo!1🤣😂😂My 7 yo granddaughter is watching this video with me, and is positioning her finger like you were too. This is exactly what kind of haircut I like but having a difficult time finding the right person. What most cannot do is blend the top and the side so the receding hairline will not show.!!! I wish so bad that you can do a video like this one but sensitive to thinning in front and top and blending it all. That is the trouble I am having that so many stylist cannot do !!! Please , hopefully you can do a video on this. Thank you so much !!!!! Your videos are great !

Hey Stephen. I love your videos. But there are some people that are very stereo-typical and stigmatic about haircuts/styles from the 1970s and 80s. I'm all for wearing and styling it the way a person wants; but I've experienced opposition about it at the same time. Very nice looking hair style….my son has vety thick large strands of hair that can get wavy and if let to geow long it will get big ringlets.. people would kill for this hais as its just gorgeous. His dad has it as does his dads mom…so its a carroll thing. Their last nane is carroll..(med brown in coloer) and its rare they get a great hair cut….some cut way too short or other issies….. its like people dont know how to handle this type of haie

Hey Stephen, I was following your tutorials on the tiktoker hairstyles, and I grew my hair out to get those, I loved them but asked my barber for little trim, he ended up using thinning sheers and taking off too much and i got a really bad haircut, it’s not even the same anymore and now I have to wait to grow it all out again, do you know ways around this so this doesn’t happen again even after saying just a tiny bit off?
