I bought a load of Galanthus Nivalis last January 'in the green' from Eurobulbs, near Cambridge. They were just coming into flower so I planted immediately. They continued flowering and this year look great too. They wernt expensive either. Like you I am created a shade garden area with Winter interest so as well as the snowdrops have planted loads of hellibores (which I buy half price in the plant sales as they go over, or when leaves have been frost damaged). I've now added Sarcococca Confuse and Daphnes for their evergreen colour and wonderful scent in February. There are some lovely compact Camellia Sasanqua which will also provide great colour and scent from November to March. Lovely to see your garden in February, will be exciting to see the rest of your Spring bulbs emerge.

Thanks for the well produced video. I love snow drops but have little success growing them. Over the years, I have planted 200+ bulbs with very poor results. I heard “in the green” was the more reliable route to take but that’s too expensive for me. Best wishes for your snow drop crop.🌸

So fun to see your bulbs blooming. I'm in southern California so I buy prepotted bulbs since we don't get the needed freeze here for flowering. The old stonework step area in your garden is gorgeous!! Lucky you. Also love the naturalized snow drops scattered about..very cute.

Mt favorite crocus is the little lavender "tommie" that seeds itself in the grass. I have a sheet of if them under my Japanese maple, and i didnt plant them!

Love it! We have had an oddly warm February as well and I am seeing Crocuses popping up everywhere. I am also seeing the daffodils and tulips I planted this autumn starting to come up as well. I cannot wait for winter to be completely done and Spring to be here.

This was lovely and you’ve inspired me to get some more hellebore varieties as we have a type with light green flowers which are prolific, and a few of the dark purple flowers, but your pink ones are beautiful! I may try to get some earlier crocus varieties too. I added 1000 remembrance bulbs to our crocus lawn in autumn, but similar to you I have noticed the bulbs just planted seem to take longer to flower but I will look forward to hopefully seeing them in a few weeks.

Your garden is looking enchanting already. After years of unsuccessful snowdrop planting in Autumn I have also started planting in the green so am hoping for more success.

The helleborus you showed is helleborus orientalis. It spreads very easy by seeding itself out.

Thanks to you I must check into whether Hellebores and Snowdrops would do well in our area. I planted near 100 Oriental poppies a month ago but we had so much rain and I'd not covered the soil with enough mulch, they did not thrive. We had quite a beautiful show of them last year. Again, thank you for you informative tour~~

Hellebores are one of my favourite plants. Have you a Christmas Box (can’t spell the botanical name….something like sarcococcha) it has a fabulous scent at the moment, would recommend.

I’m going to ‘copy’ if that’s ok?, you’re recycling of plastic pots as plant / seed labels. What type of pen do you use please? I’ve avoided planting hellebores as I have a dog. Presumably your dogs don’t go near them? Lovely video of you’re beautiful garden, thank you

I don't know if it's some sort of ancestral memory but I just adore the old rock houses and the thatched roof homes you have in Britain. In the US the insurance companies won't even let the old homes (mine is a 1910 bungalow) have shake roofs anymore. They say they're a fire hazard. Wouldn't that make any house made out of wood "a fire hazard"? 🙄. So people replace them with colored tin roofs. 🤮 ALTHOUGH with enough money there are tin roofs painted and shaped like shake. But that still seems corny to me.
