Some business don't have employee locker room, like my old job. Everytime you go to work, you have to leave your personal effects at home or in the car. They just don't provide lockable storage locker room with individual cabinets for the employees to use. Wear clothing with zippered pockets, don't attract attention by carrying bags and purses. Don't dress nice and don't wear any jewelry. Don't drive fancy and expensive cars.

@@motleyassortment5512 why not lock it in the trunk where it’s out of sight? Don’t get me wrong - it is tragic that criminals are taking over multiple areas of the country and doing things like this. There’s no justification for it. But I’ve traveled many places where I didn’t want to carry a purse or belongings in and I locked them in my trunk before I even leave home. It sounds like she was fully aware that she was at risk this way.

@@grafxgrl8030 Criminals know by now, that is the most obvious place people will hide their personal possessions. If they want it bad enough, they will find it. People have no respect for other's personal property as long as it is free and they don't have to pay for it. Steal: wife, husband, girlfriend, boyfriend, children, pets, cars, any assets you have , money, food, anything and everything that catches their eye and appeals to them. You have package thieves and mail thieves. You just have to watch everybody and don't ignore who's hanging your surroundings.

Warning or not, there should be available resources and personnel to secure the facility and its employees vehicles/belongings.. I work at the other South Fulton facility, where there is mostly if not always a marked or unmarked Police Car stationed, alongside a Allied Security unmarked vehicle that patrols the lot throughout the day and night. The facility has maintained a protective fence surrounding the property. It took just over two to three months for Amazon to provide this level of security to this specific facility after assumingly finding out what occurred at the other facilities surrounding. I see a lot of these comments about it being the employee's fault, when she was giving a clear warning, which was also given to us when we first started as well. At the end of the day, we shouldn't have to worry about our belongings being taken or our vehicles being damaged if we have a multi-million dollar company that provides a "safe work enviornment". Amazon, y'all gots to do better if you don't want to keep losing employees due to careless actions of on-site "security".

The security services at Amazon facilities are absolute joke. We have experienced literal ambulatory needs for employees in my state, but if it occurs outside the doors the security people ignore it entirely like they don't see it. Too busy watching their phones. Their job is to secure the interior of the facility and that is it. Once you walk out the door and if you're heading to your car on their grounds they are not responsible. You could get shot and killed and it's not their issue. That happened in Lakeville, Minnesota recently where woman was killed by her boyfriend after an altercation in the parking lot. Security didn't even bother to go outside to figure out what was going on. Complete joke.

i used to go to college in an area that had a LOT of car break ins and thefts. I bought a cheap car that nobody would want (i wasn't worried about it breaking down because I chose this college because I could take the train there as well) If I had evening classes I would disabled the vehicle under the hood (so it couldn't be hot wired / stolen, and i left the doors unlocked. I made sure there was nothing inside (I locked the trunk latch though). And I left a sign on it, car is disabled/nothing inside/doors unlocked (i never had a problem with windows being broken or attempts to steal it). But this was years ago when you didn't have to worry about catalytic converter thefts (I am sure that would be an issue now, even if you buy the converter security cover, they just saw right through it).

We're talking about cars here, not someone's well being. Hell, we should all collectively file a lawsuit against the government for not not looking out for the safety of its citizens. This same nonsense logic is often cited by Amazon employees about having metal detectors on the way out, but not on the way in and that someone could bring a weapon inside. What about the millions of other businesses. Do we not care about their employees safety, or should everyone be checked before we enter any business.

In a famous Nevada court case, a famous casino lost a lot of money because they knew their parking garage was unsafe. Instead of fixing the problem, they removed their security cameras to prevent them from being vandalized resulting in a horrible crime not being filmed. Hopefully Amazon will pay as that casino did. The warning to the employees was proof that they knew. The unfilmed crimes proof that they did nothing. My dog could win that case and hes not even an attorney (but he is a smart border collie). Let's stop blaming the victims and go after the problem. Even in my very rural, crime free neighborhood, this would have been caught by cameras. Cameras I bought from AMAZON.

I was mister get it done -had to go purchase or pick up parts and supplies for the facility almost daily- there was 19 buildings- had keys and access cards for those buildings. The scariest part of her testimony is that her "gun" was gone. It's being done by a gang of teens that live within walking distance of the place and know the layout of the entire area. I've been a victim of this at my college parking lot. I left a $50. radar detector visible on the dashboard, and somebody put a rock through my drivers side window to get it. Cost $400. to replace the window. The campus police told me when I reported it that "it happens all the time" and there's nothing they can do except file the report.

To all those questioning her leaving her purse in her car if you have ever worked in a warehouse (which I'm certain none of you have) you don't take a purse into a warehouse that has no safe place for you to put your belongings. You should lock all of your items in your trunk and that should be adequate security. She was informed that she should not leave her positions out where they can be seen. She may have tucked everything under the seat, but that's not good enough. Until these companies wake up and start paying adequate wages and hiring people that don't have college degrees for decent-paying livable wage jobs this is the new world we have to live in... welcome to the hunger games.
