no you dont need any special controls really, I use a HOTAS (VKB NXT stick and TCWS throttle) but keyboard and mouse also work, though because mouse has only 2 axis you cant get as smooth a motion with it, not to mention that little mouse motion widget thing in the middle of the screen all the time if you use mouse :D though more accurate aiming i'm told. one of the top AX pilots CMDR EuanAB even uses an Xbox controller - it's all about practicing with FA OFF (and it does take a lot of practice, dont worry, everyone is bad at it to begin with but you will improve ). yes, i used one on the Corvette in my review :) it can be useful for gaining a little extra leway with gauss cannons but usually costs too much power overall to do it

yes the distro on the FGS is really nice - the speed and maneuvering are definately weaknesses but they can be worked with so long as your orbit maneuvering is good :)

I went with a challenger. I Really wanted 3 medium gauss with good convergence. Size 6 distributor but is an improvement for handling and speed
