A relatively unique trainer that's not quite rollers, not quite a standard trainer, but still manages to pack a punch when it comes to providing 700W+ of resistance. Here's my look at the Feedback Sports Omnium Portable Trainer as I put it through the Lama Lab Test to see how it holds up. Please subscribe to support this KZfaq channel: bit.ly/3aUph9W

Shane, I'm a rec/racer over 66 (woman). It was hell dragging my Kinetic to races, especially when I was alone. Now I use Omnium for all my daily training and away. I still have trouble trusting the trainer when I stand and sprint, but I think it's a style issue on my part. All in all I love the unit, especially traveling with a parked car: takes up no space. Also, was so impressed with the construction I purchased the Sprint Workstand. .

Have taken mine backwards and forwards to Singapore and other countries with my bike for the last year or so. Call me crazy but it's better than a hotel gym bike training session or wet and unfamiliar roads!! Have managed a number of Zwift green and polka dot jerseys on it as well so no problem powering this little beauty up! Also no issue with customs as hand luggage (although I have had a few questions!). Great to take to events for warm up as well.

This is a great accessory to have around the house. I have a smart bike, so I don't need it for Zwift, however, if a friend is over and wants to ride indoors, or one of the youngin's wants to ride, I can just grab this off the garage shelf and be ready to ride in 5 min or less. Also, and this one was a nice surprise, it's great to have in the workshop when I'm doing rainy weekend bike maintenance, and want to test some gear changes, etc.. I can throw it on there and fine tune the rear shifting without having to take the nice clean bike out in the rain.

It is now about $480 Amazon but I just bought one on Marketplace for $250. We have a simple bike that can not be connected on the rear axle. Need to get in shape and this one seemed the best idea out there. Will have it next week and thanks for the super youtube video

Hey mate, love the videos! Are you able to explain a bit more with the ride feel? You mentioned that it doesn't have a flywheel and that it feels empty. Do you mean it won't cost as long as it would normally on road? If this is the case, i don't think its too big of an issue?

HI Shane, So what I can't see from any of these reviews is whether you should use a trainer tyre. Many turbos will over heat your road tyre and there will be a build up of aluminium which will adversely affect the grip. Thoughts?

Would it work ok for building endurance? Mountain bike point not really after any of the speed, hill, time trial aspect. Just want to work on endurance over the winter when it's too cold to ride outdoors. Can't find a stand trainer that will work with my bike. Direct drive is really the only thing besides rollers that will work and that's out of my budget for a trainer.

I got 1 the other week for pre race warm ups. I was worried about the price see.s a bit steep for a trainer. I have a 2 door car and not much room so if I am going overnight for a race I need as much space as possible. A standard wheel on trainer takes up way too much space in my car. I find it's primary purpose as a trainer for pre race and maybe once a week for a pre defined work out mode. It's worth looking into but I think it's market is a small number of users.

I noticed you got out of the saddle during your sprint, how does that compare to doing that on a smart trainer or rollers, which feels most like being outside? I have a Tacx Neo which is a little rigid for getting out of the saddle and I have rollers, but it is difficult for me to get aggressive out of the saddle, just wondering if the fork mount helps with that. Thanks
@jaimectrs
@jaimectrs 5 жыл бұрын
For anybody that cares, just got this trainer in today and did a 1.5 hour ride with a few intervals where I was out of the saddle for long climbs and it was much easier on my knees than my Tacx Neo v2(I am not knocking this unit, it is freaking awesome, I wish I had no pain on it plus highly recommend the Tacx videos, beautiful! Better than Fulgaz IMO). Obviously not a smart unit, but got a great workout with no knee pain which is why I asked this question in the first place. Riding outside I have no issues, most trainers = knee pain for me. Gonna try the Insideride rollers with the new smartpower next 😎

G'day Shane, thanks for your review. I purchased the Feedback trainer but somehow my speed is shown incorrectly on the Zwift app. I'm using a Garmin Speed sensor that attached onto the rear hub. It would show about 20k/hr below the reading. After a long ride it will catch up and even over the reading speed then back to the initial low reading again. How did you get yours to read correctly? Many thanks, Tom

The collection. No matching rear though damn it. No way I'd take a smart trainer to a race. They're too big, they don't offer anything a standard trainer can't offer on race day, they can't get wet, people might want to flog it. All the work is done prior to race day. All that's needed is a warm up, not training.

Having cooked a Neo and had a Kickr bike die on me this year I’m considering this as a non complicated indoor training solution. Seriously (potentially) well out of pocket with Wahoo as purchased unit from a reseller and warranty is invalid. Reluctant to cough up another chunk of bucks to buy another smart trainer. What do you think? I’ve done nearly 5000 miles outdoor and circa 1500 indoor year to date.

@tomcosgrove7240
@tomcosgrove7240 3 жыл бұрын
This has no electronics, so doesn't talk direct to Zwift. However, if you have a power meter on your bike, that pairs to Zwift, or just put a speed sensor on the rear wheel and Zwift can estimate the power from there. Note that you don't get "sim" mode (you don't get any modes!) so when you come to a hill, anyone on a smart trainer gets an increase in resistance, starts putting out more power than you, and moves away. You have to think and put out more power yourself. Having said all that, I use this for all my training and Zwift with my wife who has a Kickr Core - I love the Feedback Omniums.

There is a slight lag time probably more due to my Wi-Fi connection which is just a cell tower jetpack thru Verizon. Cheapest way I could find but very effective!!

I assume that it doesn’t have integrated powermeter and you need your on-bike powermeter for Zwift?
@gplama
@gplama 4 жыл бұрын
No, but you can use a speed sensor for estimated power in Zwift with this unit.

Shane Miller - GPLama thanks. Did you try to see the accuracy of virtual power applied on this trainer? Given the magnetic resistance of the trainer, it helps to recreate the resistance and the power curve more inline with reality isn’t it?
@gplama
@gplama 4 жыл бұрын
@@yobusi There's a 1000 ways virtual power could be inaccurate.... so no, I didn't bother testing it. My results will be different to others. It'll likely be ballpark ok. If anyone needs accurate power, best use a power meter.

Hi Shane! What is your setup here in this particular video to be able to connect to Zwift? Thanks!
@gplama
@gplama 4 жыл бұрын
Via the power meter on the bike. This can also be used with 'estimated' power using a speed sensor on the rear wheel.

Thank you! I'm planning to access Zwift through my windows OS laptop. I'm planning to buy a speed sensor with Bluetooth capability but I'm not sure if it can connect to my laptop. Can it?

If the laptop has Bluetooth 4.0 or higher it should work.
