Feeder Fishing For Bream On Stillwaters
For this latest episode we headed too Blickling lake, famous for Blickling Hall, it's surrounding grounds and of course the shoals of Bream that inherit its waters.
The lake is a traditional estate lake with a very shallow average depth of water, with this being the case it can often pay to fish at range, away from the margins and the roaming dog walkers and tourists. A ground bait feeder fished at medium to long range will often put you amongst the fish, so that was exactly our plan of attack.
An early start saw us on the bank at first light and even though the bright conditions were far from ideal we still fancied ourselves to get amongst a few fish.
To find out exactly how we got on and to perhaps find out a few tips along the way, watch this latest installment, from the waters edge.
As usual we hope you enjoy it and any feedback is always much appreciated.

The lads are back. Ace video as usual. I love my tip fishing for Bream and skimmers as it's not the easiest fishing but once you have sorted how they want it, then you can have a really good days fishing.

Nice vid mate! Here in the middle of Sweden nearly nobody fishes for bream. I do and it's so much fun! I like to throw out some groundbait on the evening the day before I fish. That allows me to skip all the small ones. It is very effective, in fact i have never caught a bream under 2 pounds. One day I caught 120 pounds of bream all by myself and some of the bream were over 7 pounds! :) and again awsome vid!

Great vid lads but can you explain if you are clipped up as you mention and loose your rig you count X amount of turns on your reel handle. Say 40 for example, how do you know where to cast to get 40 turns on reel handle to be back on spot. This has always confused me cheers
@FromTheWatersEdgeTV
@FromTheWatersEdgeTV 8 жыл бұрын
Hi +Barry Boyd cast what you think is roughly 40, clip up and then count them back on. If you wind in 50 turns, cast back out and hit the clip, then wind in a further ten and clip up again. Then in theory you should be on 40. If you are on 30 then unclip and pay a bit of line off and then try again. It's a little bit trial and error, but at least you have a guide of some sort to help you get back on the same spot. Hope that helps a little! Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for taking the time to comment. Cheers Chris.

Ithought only big carp anglers 'found an area' then clipped up....can you elaborate on finding an area please? How, why, where etc? 😀😀😀
@FromTheWatersEdgeTV
@FromTheWatersEdgeTV 9 жыл бұрын
No, not only Carp anglers +kev brookes clipping up is essential when feeder fishing, well 99% of the time, as you want to ensure you cast in the same spot to build the swim. You can feature find with a standard quiver tip rod and lead, a 1oz lead is perfect, as this sinks at roughly 1ft per second. Cast this around your swim and see if you can find any deeper holes, any hard gravels area's etc (feel for the 'donk' as the lead hits the bottom.) On some lakes (like this one) you won't find too many features as the lake is pretty much the same all over, the only thing we wanted to do was ensure we fished quite a way out as the water is very shallow. Hope that helps a little! Tight lines, cheers Chris.

hi guys, quick question, just about to start making my own pole rigs and hook lenghts and such. now im familliar with how too attach the hook length to the float length, but how do i detach the 2 of them again? im fishing light lines most of the time, so i cant seem to push the 2 lengths together to release the knot. any help appreciated :)
@FromTheWatersEdgeTV
@FromTheWatersEdgeTV 9 жыл бұрын
Hi +TheRagingDean I do it loop to loop normally, however it can be a pain sometimes to get them apart. Normally with pole rigs though, I'll leave the hook length on the rig at all times, even when it's on the winder. :-) Hope that helps a little.
@kinyo1878
@kinyo1878 9 жыл бұрын
yeh, im going to do them loop to loop, and i tried undoing it again, as you say with pole rigs it was quite hard. will just leave it on winder then. cheers

i tried your hair rig worm method few days and it didn't work very well for me :( it takes a long time to get that little bit of worm stuck to hair rig off if i want to change old worm to a new one. I was hair riging two worms btw. Is there a quick way of getting them off ?
@FromTheWatersEdgeTV
@FromTheWatersEdgeTV 8 жыл бұрын
There isn't really, you just have to pick it off. To be honest if there was a little bit left on I don't think it would do any harm.

I'm amateur in this style of fishing,should i recover some line after i cast?
@FromTheWatersEdgeTV
@FromTheWatersEdgeTV 8 жыл бұрын
Hi mate, you don't need to recover line as such as you'll move the feeder, just pop the tip under the water and sink the line - that should be fine :-)
