"Gamblers at a roulette table looking to double their money traditionally face the choice of putting it all on black or red. And on Black / Red, their landmark 12th album, Feeder also go for a high-stakes double: 18 tracks, two “discs” and one raised middle finger to today’s supposedly TikTok-ravaged short attention spans.
Luckily, if there’s any band that could be described as a sure thing, it’s probably Feeder. There’s barely been a misstep across those dozen records and while this trilogy-concluding follow-up to 2022’s excellent Torpedo is certainly ambitious, Grant Nicholas and Taka Hirose emerge with their high-rolling reputations enhanced.
The ’Black’ disc continues Torpedo’s hard-rocking renaissance, the tightly wound classic rock riffing of Playing With Fire and the expansive, cinematic landscape of ELF striking a charming juxtaposition with the irresistible pop rush of Hey You. ‘Red’ isn’t quite as heavy, but it’s just as intense, stuffed with Feeder’s ’00s trademark: melody-drenched, emotive alternative-rock anthems such as Sleeping Dogs Lie, Unconditional and Here Comes The Hurricane.
Feeder are still more than capable of springing a surprise - lord alone knows what odds you’d have got on the poignant Soldiers Of Love sporting a bagpipes intro, 30 years after they first blasted out of South Wales. But as that song rails against a world 'When you feel nothing is real', you’ll realise that - whether you have time to hear these songs all together or listen to them in splendid isolation - Black / Red is an authentic representation of a great band in full, long-distance flight.
And, if you’re looking for a band to keep it real in a world of fakes, you could do a lot worse than to put it all on Feeder."

ItsMadjid they should also fit somewhere in something that sounds like 'radiation' or 'here in the bubble' (from polythene era), those two songs are rather slowish paced with hard guitar and a very emotional sound to them similar to most of ywts just hoping they don't do a track that's like the song "anaesthetic" - I would like that song if it weren't for the irritating lead at the beginning

also feeder ain't exactly renowned for their lyrical content, don't expect too much, they seem to care more about conveying it through the sound of the song etc especially prevalent in the echo park era imo

I know right?! It was already embarrassing when he was churning out Buck Rogers at 33.. If he had been 19 or 20 it would have been more respectable. All I see with Feeder is a band that was talented to begin with who started churning out fame hungry of the time music to try fit in with bands like Busted etc.. Like a bunch of oldies sneaking into a college party.

In 2012 my girlfriend and I were young (well, younger) lovers and we took off and went to California on a road trip across America to Texas. This reminded me of that beautiful time. In November me and my now fiancée will see them at the Roundhouse in Camden 👍.

I dont need to tell you how much buck Rodgers, seven days in the sun, pushing the senses, piece by piece, satellite news and obviously just a day etc etc etc literally could go on, soundtracked the most awesome few summers from london to Brighton with the best characters I've ever met. Characters I left in that time period. I'm so glad to rediscover that classic sound. Really does take me back

@Nychobon I used to live around the Midlands in 2010 and I remember Renegades getting a lot of play on Kerrang! Radio actually. Possibly Borders too. On the contrary, I haven't heard this on any radio station.

I am so glad that you caught that !!! Jon wrote this & that song ' Tell all your friends ' originally ! It was about our future together ! I was his 1st love / crush ! Jon tried a surprise vist to my home in Beverly Hills back in 2000 ! Very regretfully ,I was out ! I coul've saved Jon ,he wanted me to !!! But I was having my PTS w/ o knowing ! My memories of Jon was only about 30 % back then ( because of his betrayal ) ! We were childhood friends, soulmates ,I was Jon's crush & 1st love !!! Later I fell in love w/ Jon ,too ! But my old bestfriend got in the middle of us & tored us apart by lying all to Jon ! He ended up believing her ! Jon & I were gonna form a band together ! Grant meant that little boy = Jon listening to my song tape which I sent to him way back in the 80's ! Jon was & still is the feeder's head / heart !!! It's such a shame the most don't know that ! I was Jon's childhood friend & bestfriend & his 1st crush & love ! But he betrayed me because of my ex bestfriend got in between tored us apart ! As she didn't want me to succeed in the music business & wanted Jon for herself ! I live in L.A. And that boy in this music video was meant to be Jon listening to my songs in a cassette tape & he kept it for his life ! Jon did a surprise visit to my place in Beverly Hills in 2000 regretfully I was not home ! This song is about that ! You can see an old pic of 'em w/ Jon together from the music video of ' Insomnia ' there in this video as well ! I had stayed at the hotel Chelsea ( the location of the video )myself back in the 80's ! I was there for a week ?? I stayed in N.Y.for more than a month ! I hope your wish will come true for feeder to play in your country ! Are they popular there ? I have never visited Poland ! But , it has been on my mind for life ! Lol.
