This lil’ one had fallen out and was found late in the evening when the dun was going down. Although I spotted the nest in a few minutes, I decided to reunite the baby by putting her back in her nest first thing in the morning (couldn’t risk disturbing the parents if they were around).
The lil' one had appeared to have fallen for a while before a friend spotted her. When I found her, she had a splatter of dried blood on her face, near her beak but other than that, she seemed fine externally. Assuming she hadn't fed for a while, I gave her a couple of feeds at night (she was wonderfully hungry and gave me a beautiful feeding response) and she slept well. She was just fine when I changed her hot-water bottle at about 2 am, but alas, I found her dead by 6.30 am.
Although this is a rather sad case for me, I’m sharing the videos in case these will be of benefit of someone in the future.
Video 1 - feeding and pooping: This was her very first feed - this is how their poop should be, this is after what her parents would have fed her.
Video 2 - calling out to her for encourage a feeding response.
Video 3 - feeding and pooping again.
Sorry the videos are a little shaky - not always easy to hold the camera in your left hand while feeding them.
