There are some differences when culturing mud crabs in boxes versus the traditional mud crab ponds. The first one is the feeding and monitoring operations. For individual boxes, you can keep a close tab on each individual crabs and implement any corrective actions!

Crabs in vertical farming are best for fattening of watercrab for a period of 2-3 weeks, and also suitable for soft shell industry. If you want to achieve growout from instar to adult crab is only can be done in pond, penning in mangrove swamp. In vertical system, the best and the fastest they will moult when the crabs are 90-120grams. As the grow bigger and need to moult, frequency to moult will take longer period or cease. Also naturally most crabs will develop shell disease over period due to prolong different habitat. Loses will be great if the mortality goes up in this type of farming.
