@@DJandManaphy The animal is not flapping its wings because its happy :B they adapted themselves to the buzzing bees give while intruding the beehive to eat the honey :) soo more like a camouflage :D

She's so perfect. Beautiful specimen. This makes me miss my spotted hawk. He couldn't fly and was missing a leg. He fed like this from my hand, and would flap his good wing just like this. I never expected to grow so attached to a moth. I really loved him and I was so sad when he expired, but he had a charmed life for a crippled moth. I was so glad that he had a full lifespan. He even had a ceremonial burial with a very fancy coffin that I made.

You will some day see him again, I lost a cat name Gypsie and she sometimes appears around my home, small shadow runs up hallway, gentle paws walking on my bed, I KNOW it's Gypsie letting me know she's ok, you will be reunited with your moth some day 🤗

@@goti4no820 most moths don't live very long. The death's head moth only lives about 6 weeks as an adult then it dies.

The appearance of this moth failed to scare people!😱❌It's the opposite. It is soo cute, adorable and really fluffy and she appears very peaceful. ❤️😍🥰😇

While this Acherontia atropos seems to be very well cared for, flapping their wings during eating is not a sign of happiness, but an instinctive self-protection mechanism to get bees off their back when they break into a hive to eat their honey.

Sometimes I legit forget that it’s only a few species of moths (like Luna moths) that don’t have mouthparts and can’t eat. Does anyone know if it’s a specific group of moths that can’t eat as adults, or just a few scattered species?

When it comes to adult moth's feeding habits its actually rather diverse, The group of moths that include some of the more famous ones like Luna moths, Rosy Maple moths, and Polyphemus moths are all part of the family Saturniidae, this group consists of some of the largest moths and all of them do have mouthparts, they are just non-functional and reduced in size significantly. Fun Fact on moth mouthparts, the Family Micropterigidea is a group from the Jerrasic that still has Mandibles instead of the proboscis found on most modern Lepidoptera, and they are considered to be the most primitive still living family as they diverged before the evolution of said proboscis.
