Welcome back as I share how I'm feeding my family of 11 without big grocery stores! In this new Large Family Meals of the Week video, we get rolling with seeing what cooking huge meals looks like with the no more grocery store challenge as we make homemade yogurt, get going on making sourdough bread, do big batch cooking making several gluten-free lasagnas, shop local for fresh fruits and veggies, garden on the homestead and so very much more!
In today's Feeding My Family of 11 Without Big Grocery Stores video I talk about my friend Lisa's www.farmhouseo... Beginner’s Sourdough Bread Recipe. I also share that all of my new dresses are linked over at amazon.com/sho... If you're interested in my No More Grocery Store thoughts • NO MORE GROCERY STORE ... here's the video I reference today. Hi. I am a single senior. I started watching your channel and found so many ways to adapt mega mama large-batch cooking to my particular situation. Now I seldom prepare less than 4 to 6 meals at a time and I pack them up like “frozen TV dinners“. Or I make a small casserole or pot of soup and divide it into serving size portions. My freezer is always stocked with healthy meals! I am now going to concentrate on preparing breakfasts that I can just pop into the microwave or toaster oven. Sometimes I skip breakfast because my mornings are usually filled with gardening chores (more later) and canning (tiny baby steps)! Thanks for being an inspiration and an encourager!

I have a small family, a 1 year old, 3 year old and my husband. I learned from you that I can freeze milk so I started buying raw milk in bulk local to us and deep freezing gallons of it! It’s been a game changer. Now I make our own mozzarella from scratch every week and have enough for the babies to drink in bottles and sippys.

Another tip with your journey is using and purchasing Celtic sea salt instead of table salt. There’s always a rabbit hole to go down. But with the array of health things you’ve mentioned. The Celtic sea salt has 82 minerals we need and 30% less sodium and it’s all natural…. Table salt is not good for us. Love you videos and go girl! :)

What exactly is “Celtic sea salt” - since I’m not aware of where the “Celtic sea” might actually be? There are various areas of the UK and parts of France in which the population are regarded as having Celtic origins, but that doesn’t make the sea that washes their shores in any way Celtic, nor is the salt extracted from those seas. Or could it be a mere marketing ploy? Hmmm, I wonder…

Trick for leaving the farm shoes..... Keep them in the car! You take them off before you exit the car. Absolutely no chance to slip if they never actually hit the ground on the farm, ever. I live in the maritime Pac NW and its the only way ive kept town shoes from requiring a regular goid cleaning and rehab.

It is a really beautiful dress, you have good style. I find it's important to have clothes that are comfortable no matter what you are doing. Due to being on the path of being terminally ill I've been fighting pneumonia so I've been in pj's all week. I'm on my own so I figure it didn't matter and I was only doing the bare basics like looking after my 18 week old puppy I named Tilly Grace and 8 week old puppy named Bentley first, then trying to eat and keep the house as tidy as possible and to look after myself by sleeping when the puppies are sleeping. They are different ages because I wanted to make sure I was capable of giving puppy everything she needed. It's easier having two as they play together and tire each other out. They are a true blessing to me after losing both my parents and building and moving last month. 😊

Take your time. You've been working for years towards being 'Self Sustainable' and you're simply going to the next level in that goal. People should do what their 'pocket' dictates to them. No one ever has to apologize for EATING or FEEDING their families, whether that's from a 'grocery store' or from 'your own backyard'! _This ain't FRANCE, we shouldn't have a 'Let them eat CAKE!' mentality here!_ If you could have done this all in one fail swoop you would have done it years ago! Take your time and look after your health too! I have 'back & joint issues', if your laying on the floor to *_Stretch your back_* then your possibly developing back issues... I so enjoy watching your videos. I'm loving that your getting into gardening. I hope you keep your pineapple tops to grow new pineapples. I literally twist them off and shove them in the dirt. I two years you'll have your own pineapple. Lots of love from New Zealand ❤

You inspire me, Jamerrill! Watching you work hard and find such joy in your garden has me nurturing and enjoying a great big flower garden ( 1st time I’ve been successful with it since we moved to SW Florida). I am loving it! And I’ve researched and planned out my raised bed for fall and winter ( veggie garden time down here!) Gardening is so different down here but my flowers give me hope that this time ( 2nd attempt) my veggies will thrive!! I am up to my elbows in mangoes right now preserving them. Thanks for sharing your journey and encouraging me and others!! Also I would be so thankful if you could drop in what you are eating for THM just for ideas- I feel like I hit a wall with easy ideas especially for E meals . Maybe some of your go-to’s or faves?? Thanks a bunch! -💕Liz in SW Florida

You have very creative daughters who might enjoy making soap. All kinds can be made dish, laundry, body, shampoo bars. I enjoy Elly's everyday soap making. She's fun easy to follow and a lovely lady too

You are a mentor to many, and you are facing a very big challenge! But I know that many will try and follow you and take all the necessary steps. I know I have made many changes and will try my best to follow the path of being more self sufficient! Love to spend my time listening to your vlogs . Keep up the good work .

Tapioca starch, potato starch and corn starch are often part of gluten free flour blends. And you can make your own Rice flour in a blender. So sometimes if you don't have the store blend, you can make your own. Xantham gum is often the binder. I don't often add it in my baking. Hugs and thank you for sharing your experience and teaching. ❤

To save time I cook my milk in a stick pot on the stove to 180 degrees. Then pour into the instant pot pan . And cool in a water path . Add yogurt Then in to the instant pot base on yogurt setting for 10 hours....And I line my strainer with a tea towel. And place strainer in a big bowl. Then I cover with wax paper. And fold towel ends on top. And put in the fridge for overnight. It is so thick and yummy.🙂

You may be interested in looking into the latest research on the nutritional value of brown rice as compared to white. It's proven to be quite counterintuitive to say the least. I won't bother getting into it here but I promise, it's definitely worth looking into. The arsenic issue alone is enough to make it worth your time.

I wear dresses all the time. Either with a split slip or bike shorts underneath. I always have underneath privacy. Dresses wash well, hang to dry, wrinkle free, pack well, you always look presentable. No hosiery needed. Can wear socks, sneaker or sandals. Add jewelry, handbag or you look presentable to go to doctor, dentist, appointment in a heartbeat.

It's very nice when kids get to the age that they can help get things ready for a day out. My kids are 24 and 21 and I've got my nieces 4 kids ages 2, 1yo twins, and a 3 month old. We are adopting them. We started all over again.
