Does this philosophy hold true for all breeds of cattle? Specifically Dexter?

The recommendations made within this video are intended for beef breeds. Given Dexter cattle’s small stature, the feed intake and average daily gain targets may be larger than what you would see if applied to Dexter cattle.

There is no premium paid for preconditioned calves.

Numerous auction markets participate in value-added sales where calves must go through preconditioning practices to be eligible for sale in. Here’s an example: www.joplinstockyards.com/value_added_sales.php.
