Here to check in after another two weeks of painting and mostly gloomy days. It had its ups and downs but a few ideas seem to have gotten stuck with me, so I tried to share them in this video. The painting is still in progress, but I've cleaned up my space, visited family and feel inspired by new objects and images stirring around me. Unexpected moments and small steps towards joy were my sunshine recently. I hope the same for you. :)

I really can appreciate your thought proces and insights how to live your life and accept to be your own self , thank you for sharing this . I recognize that feeling of going somewhere and thinking it would be better to spend that particular time in the studio, instead of just enjoying the moment being in the outer world enjoying the company or even the groceries etc. because thàt is for sure as important and benefits afterwards studiotime (telling myself this now 😉). Ohhh winter days .... 😮‍💨 Your painting starts to look so beautiful ,I love the scene but also the color scheme is very strong and vibrant , love it . I think the benefit of painting with acrylics is definitely that when your are in the flow you can continue to work as long as you want ✊. I think the colour red radiates strength 💯

That reminds me how badly I need to go get groceries 😂 I might be an expert at seeing errands as a walk up Everest. I'm glad you like the colors, I'm really challenged right now with getting things to still harmonize and sit together in the piece. Acrylics are demanding in that way, there's no excuse to slow down or take a break, I love it. 😅 I hope you find a little red in your week, I like that idea of it radiating strength. Cheers Debora

"Pursue those natural instincts, in my taste, otherwise what's the point..." That's great advice, you have a great person in your life there. I tend to cull a lot, and, I like where you went with the thinking that it doesn't matter what you get rid of if the stuff you are left with isn't true to who you are. That's real good Maria. Burn as much deadwood as you want, but make sure what stays is authentic. So relevant. Well said. That composition is interesting. The relationship that cup has in the foreground to everything else in the painting is intense. It's like it is the barometer or pilot light to the whole piece. The eye always goes back there, to the front. To that cup. I cut triangular paths around the painting with my eyes, through all that busyness and end up back there. It's where the painting is won and lost. The power of a single object hey... If your painting were/is a good song, that cup is the rhythm section, it's holding the whole sound together. I place my hand up to the screen and block out that cup and everything changes. It's wild. P.s- IKEA freaks me out.

Really glad you like the thoughts I shared, I had a lot to process myself. And thanks for the fantastic comment, I enjoyed reading your perspective on the composition. I definitely am using that coffee cup as an anchor for the piece. 😊 Thank you!

Thank you so much for sharing your reflections with us! There were so many things you said that I can related to as well. Interesting that you guys have had cold snowy weather as of late. Up here we're known for very cold and long winters and this time of year are usually the coldest weeks, yet we've been having spring-like weather. No complaints from me. Btw, I love the color scheme of your painting; it's coming along quite nicely. Keep it up! Cheers!

I’m glad it’s sunday! Winter is such an easy time to get stuck and lose perspective because of the gloominess… I feel the same, but you can’t stop the seasons from changing, and I try not to be too hard on myself for taking breaks now and then. I don’t want to risk losing my passion for art over a schedule. Progress isn’t as clear as counting brushstrokes, the moodboards and the breaks and the writing are part of it too. You have a solid look on life, and I agree with what you said at 7:23. Your faith belongs to you. Also, is that one of your paintings at 8:27?

It's all a part of the process isn't it. 😁 That painting was done by my former teacher, Hans Habeger. It's a great piece. I completely agree, winter is definitely a time to look inward, plus I'd rather have a long practice than a short one that burns out!
