Most people will feel unsure during their PhD. There are several moments where you will feel unsure about your PhD thesis:
Unsure about your research topic.
Unsure about your data analysis.
Unsure about whether you are done.
It is absolutely normal to feel unsure along the way. Every person who has done research will doubt their skills and abilities. I normally see people do one of things when they are unsure: (1) dig in their heels and defend their status, (2) defer judgment to others about their decisions.
I would like you to think of a third alternative. When you feel unsure about a decision, try to pursue two approaches, and document why one of the approaches is better than the other. This will help you decide why your approach is best. You can also suggest that you tried multiple approaches, but choose the one that was most appropriate for your scenario.
I also want you to take only a small step forward when you are unsure. All you have to do is take the step and see what makes the most amount of sense for you.

David Maslach is a research professor of entrepreneurship, innovation, and business strategy, I discuss topics, such as behavioral science, strategy, innovation, and entrepreneurship, and apply these to my new peer proofreading and editing platform. Topics include the sharing economy, altruism, investing in technology, starting a business, and bounded rationality. My favorite videos pertain to incentives, goal setting, and learning from failure to drive behaviors such as weight loss, stopping telemarketers, creating novel technologies, and creating new movements.
r3ciprocity.com: Peer proofreading and editing platform
A new platform where you can earn credits by editing other people's documents. Use these credits to have your own work edited. If you do a good enough job, you can convert these credits to money.
The goal of the platform is to get people to 'pay it forward' and help other people out by creating incentives for people to give back.
