The way the animated horses have correct frames while the irl horses aren't even properly collected, legs all over the place and head behind the vertical...

Almost as if its easier to draw the posture you want than make a living creature perform it correctly

@@moniiabirds5082 It is easier to perform it correctly, but the fact that the horses are almost always overflexed at the poll and their legs are all over the place tells me (and anyone with knowledge about classical dressage) that the foundation for these movements wasn't done correctly. And yet these people get into the Olympics and they score high points, even if the movements are wrong.

1. It is, in fact, much easier to draw a horse in the perfect frame than ride one in the perfect frame. 2. Which list judge are you? 1st, 2nd, etc.. if they truly were as awful as you think they are, they wouldn’t have made it past the preliminaries. 3. I’m genuinely curious, if you think they’re awful, who would you have sent in their place?

@@M_J456 Current judges are strongly influenced by the current competition dressage style instead of the classical. Look at the high marks that Anky von G., and Edward Gal with Totilas regularly received, with heads often BTV, flinging the forelegs out instead of parallel with hind legs, totally uncollected/ hind ends unengaged, horses appeared pretty stressed out. Many people who are still using classical methods to train aren't going to international shows anynore. There are still some decent riders out there in competition, but few are using purely classical nethods.

Hello FEI tv. It might be even more interesting for lay people if you explain why dressage was started in the first place (for training horses to go into battle, yes you had to be able to control a 1200-1400 lb. horse with your legs and seat, to leave your hands free to fight), rather than, or in addition to all the comparisons made to ballet which although strenuous and beautiful is not in the Olympics if we want to be considered a sport. Likewise I am looking forward to when the attire rules are changed to more athletic type attire, as competing in a shadbelly coat in the heat is dangerous for athletes and not that beneficial although traditional looking.

This cartoon horse is ridden correctly, unlike 100% of the horses in the competition. The double bridle is to blame. Last Olympian who knew that was Reiner Klimke. Eventing dressage is also much better in that respect...they do not use the double bridle, because they CAN ride.

you have to ride in a double bridle in top dressage! its the FEI rules!

Double bridles are required in international competition. Rule in effect like forever.

Just out of curiosity, what's wrong with a double bridle? Doesn't it basically ride like a single but with a little more nuance if necessary?

@@Charbified nothing wrong with them when used correctly! Double bridles usually have two bits with reins attached to both of them! This provides extra communication between the horse and rider! However when used incorrectly it can be very harmful to the horse which is why its fairly controversial. My opinion on this is that I'm fine with it bieng used correctly as long as the horse is happy but I don't agree with it bieng a required bridle/bit as every horse is different! If you want to see what a double bridle or bit looks like serch "double bridle bit" on Google and look on Wikipedia!
