In this video I review the Feisol ct 3472 tripod. I found this tripod to be the best fit for me. Its light, but still sturdy enough to use with large heavy lenses. I love the leg angle mechanism. and the lack of a center column.

Thanks Nick, good job. I would like to see another video after you've used it for several shoots. I need a new tripod for my trip to Iceland but this one seems a bit tall for me.

The short center column with that leveling action is an awesome awesome feature. Hmmm. I might wanna grab this unit.

Great review Nick! Thanks for taking the time to create and share this. What is the benefit of a leveling center column if you are also using a ball head?
@BrianPex8 жыл бұрын
Boy that is a beefy unit. Wow. And it's very light by the way you're tossing it around. Great job.

I just recently discovered your channel and really enjoy your videos. This looks like a great, sturdy tripod and I'm considering a purchase. One question though, are the mounting threads 1/4" or 3/8"?

That is a really nice tripod. Great review.

Wow that is substantially more beefy than my 3442 Tournament. Thanks for the review!

Thanks Nick. I found your review very timely as I'm currently in the market for a tripod, and I'm considering the Feisol. Two questions: Is the 3472 the tripod that you carried with you to your recent trip to Iceland? If so, what are your thoughts? Also, what ball head did you pair with the 3472? Thanks!

Thanks for this review Nick, I agree about the Induro, the legs move too freely and I am really looking at Feisol as a replacement. Just trashed a $600 lens because of my Induro, 1 second of my attention and a loose leg and smashed my lens and a $400 ball head. Ball head is still usable, just have to hammer out the locking knob for panning... Spending $600 on a good dependable tripod that will save you thousands on equipment and the frustration of having to wait for repair or having to pay for a replacement is a no-brainer... Also, Induro tripods pinching fingers all the time because of loose legs is a total pain that I don't need to live with!!! Just seeing how the Feisol is built, I know it will be impossible to pinch a finger!!!

Hey veggiefella. I recently came across a unique and extremely high-quality travel tripod...the FLM "CP26 Travel Tripod". It has super-strong 10x Carbon Fiber legs (26 lb load capacity!) with well-made twist locks, and a ball head that has several unique features that I've not seen in my 35 years of photography using tripods...For example, the "Pan" function permits butter-smooth normal panning, but in addition, adds a 15-degree ratchet function that is fantastic for us landscape/panorama photographers! There is also a "Tilt" knob that locks the ball head so that only one vertical/up/down plane is available. And finally, there is a "lock" function that locks the ball head from panning/turning, so that it can easily be unscrewed and/or mounted solidly. The kit comes with very well-made screw-on metal spikes, and folds up to a compact 15.75" for travel. Quite ingenious and precision design overall, and highly recommended for travel!! Bottom line: This FLM tripod simply exudes Quality. FLM-Canada supplies the US. Thank you, and Happy Shooting!

That looks like an outstanding tripod Nick. I really like the folded length. I have the smaller Feisol CT3401 classic which is excellent too. Although I have Gitzo 2531, I find myself using the Feisol more often because of its folded length .. The things I dont like as well are that the twist locks freeze up in cold temps, the feet could be improved a lot as you pointed out, and they should use a hard rubber on the top plate to better dampen the head and keep it from loosening.

I’m in the market for either the CT-3372 or the CT-3472. The specs are basically the same. Just the folded length is shorter on the 3472. But maybe the bottom leg on the 4 section is smaller diameter? What would you recommend. I am just thinking more bushings and threads to wear and maybe less sturdy having more sections. Thanks in advance and thanks for a great review.
@ilthac8 жыл бұрын
Nick, I don't know the thread sizes involved, but you may be able to get bushings at a hardware store to make your existing spikes work.

Nick, you should consider doing a review on the Dolica ZX600B103. It's $100 and pretty dang sturdy, and includes a nice ball head.

RRS makes a neat little bubble level plate that can be installed between the tripod base and your head. A tad expensive for what it is but typical RRS quality. Make sure it fits your head.

FYI, the link shared at the beginning for your new recommendation doesn't work oO
@joejessey23928 жыл бұрын
Nick, do the legs come apart for cleaning like RRS 3 series.
@maloso818 жыл бұрын
Auto leveling may be a misnomer, but if you can attach a bag to the bottom of center column it would auto level and remove need for the bubble level. Hopefully that works for you. Nice showcase/review. Thumbs up

On Feisoleurope they sell three different sizes of spikes: the short ones, the long and the stainless steel ones for a very decent price!

... one benefit of leveling column is that it is much easier to level since the column is long - longer lever.

Triple screw locks = automatic no. Double is much easier and are possible with same height or higher tripod. Also, this tripod is aluminium & cf. Magnesium ones are 30% lighter.

Nick Page ok. I just noticed that!! What do you think of the induro GIT 303? Or Feisol 3442? I am not sure what to do. The induro I’ve had it with the screws that come lose. My induro is the very small one though. Thoughts? Thanks!!
@artakhambarian24778 жыл бұрын
Nick, thank you for the review! I did not realize that there is new version of this tripod since 2014 that allows to interchange between the leveling column and plate. BTW Feisol has a competible bubble level: www.feisol.net/accessories/bubble-level/feisol-bubble-level-bl-cc.html, however not listed at B&H. Also, according to Feisol Europe it is compatible with LB-7572 leveling base, which also has a bubble level: www.feisoleurope.com/feisol-elite-tripod-ct3372lv-rapid-with-leveling-center-column-p-67.html. BTW both Feisol.net and B&H have wrong pictures for this last item.

Hello Nick, I have the same tripod since 2012. At the beginning I was very exited about it, but the leg lock mechanism is really crap. It is all plastic and after some light use (no salt water, no sand) blocked several times. Mine has been serviced at Feisol and they recommended to disassemble the legs when they are blocked and put the bushing back in place. But this happens all the time. I really don't recommend this tripod !

@NickPage8 жыл бұрын
I am.. I had some issues with the leg shoulders.. but I think my problem was a fluke.. I love using it.. Feisol fixed it promptly and for free. So yeah I think this one is still a solid BUY..
@EricTobiasPhotography8 жыл бұрын
+Nick Page awesome! I'm just concerned a bit about the max height without the center column. I'm 5'10 so I'm hoping that with the ballhead and camera it will bring it to at least eyes level. I don't believe the short center column is compatible with the ct-3472
@NickPage8 жыл бұрын
+Eric Tobias easily tall enough.. I am 5'9 and its too tall for me if its fully extended.. I could see someone 6'4" comfortably using this tripod.
@rontz8 жыл бұрын
A bubble level isn't necessary when using this center column - basically you'd use it to be perfectly level, right? Just loosen the leveling center column, hang something on the hanger, let gravity do its thing and tighten it. On the other hand - do you really use cameras that don't feature a digital "bubble level" on a tripod at this tripod? I don't think many people do. :) and in this case you can still get a bubble level for the hot shoe for $5. :)
@NickPage8 жыл бұрын
what I meant to say was, a bubble level on the top of the center column to know when you got it perfectly level would be great.. that way your rotating your camera around on a level axis
@MrRonr27 жыл бұрын
Go to a quality hardware store and get an adapter that will fit the leg threads and your existing spikes.
