Heavy accent but your english is a lot better than most people's, and a lot more "colourful". Reminds me of how people used to speak english a hundred years ago. PS: Ich dachte ursprünglich der Akzent ist Französisch, aber ich sehe du bist Schweizer. Grüße in die Berge! :)

I would have just used my SAK Fieldmaster saw to cut it, and then batoned it with the blade......😂 🤣 Just kidding obviously, since you're usually showing things you can do with a SAK. That was a nice split. It wouldn't take much to plane that off smooth if you needed to. I've seen others split logs with wedges like that, but your method is a bit different than others have shown. I love your content sir! I've gotten so many great tips from watching your channel. Thanks for all you do to bring us useful tips!

Riving wood is great. Splitting is also how people without a mill make their own hatchet/axe handles. Splitting pieces even the length of the log you had can be difficult. Anybody riving their own wood should be proud. It's pretty awesome to harvest your own raw materials and then create something useful out of them. Often times I'll split rounds with an axe and hew the pieces into hatchet handle blanks. Air drying can take a very long time depending on the type of wood. Soft maple dries much faster than any oak I've worked with for example. The great thing about wood is that it doesn't always have to be dry unless it's shrinking will be a problem for your use. Great video I love seeing you branch off into your other interests.

Thanks for your wonderful videos. It is truely art. Some facts about wood technology: Growing rotation in conifers is most intense during the first about 20-years of the stems life. They start growing “left”. After the juvenile phase they grow straight. When they get very old they grow “right”. To get straight logs look for older suppressed conifers like silver fir in a dark forest. Here the juvenile part of the stem should be limited…
