Thanks Felix. I watched this video with my youngest grandson (9y.o.) and we then went out and were joined by my next oldest grandson (13y.o) and with some help each carved a spoon, never having ever carved anything before. Your video is brilliant, clear and good, full of safe practices and with plenty of encouragement to get out and make something. Thank you for a brilliant afternoon with my two grandsons. Their mother will be very surprised tomorrow! Les in UK 🇬🇧

Very nicely done. A typical mistake beginners make is to carve a very deep bowl so the spoon’s difficult to eat from. More like a ladle! This way of measuring the size and where to cut is very useful. Also seeing you carefully make the ‘stop cuts’ around the mouthpiece to prevent the wood from breaking out there.

@@berndf.aus.n.a.d.w I carved a fork and a spoon last week with the Swisschamp and used the chisel, as proposed above. It worked fine. I only used the chisel to carve the spoon bowl and I found it easy to work with. Unlike Felix, I prefer to work with the large blade for most of the work, instead of the small one. Of course that people have different opinions on Swiss Army Knives, that's why there are so many combinations of them.
