Thanks for sharing this vlog which was not really for us but for your memories! It is so good to have a break from everyday life once in a while. My wife and I had a few days in Dolphin Bay, Sam Roi Yot, Prachuap Kiri Khan province 3 weeks ago, our first holiday for nearly 7 years. We had such fun and came back rejuvenated and refreshed. A particular appeal of Koh Chang is that the island is specifically popular with Thai tourists, meaning the food is better on average and the vibe is, well, a little less excessively ‘Western’. It’s a short (ish) bus from Bangkok, compared with the equivalent overland travel to Phuket, Krabi and Samui. There is an untouched, wilderness ambiance that other well-known islands definitely do not have-reaching the rugged, scattered waterfalls, set within a massive, jungle-clad national park, was an adventure you didn't even know you needed too.

What beautiful views from that Tower. Just getting that little bit extra elevation makes a considerable difference. As a hobby photographer, those views are 'gold' especially when you've got water with old boats moored. Wow, the Lobster prices are very expensive. I don't look at prices here in my part of Australia, as they've been 'out of my league' for a couple of decades. The prices there would be higher than here in Australia. Damo ( maybe Ryan too?) and I would be great nature friends. Even though I don't get much opportunity, and not very fit, I love to get out into nature, walking and exploring (especially having camera in hand). A couple of times I've been to a local safari park where there's animals, such as Lions, giraffes etc. Obviously because they're mostly wild or protected species, they're protected by fences. Buses take people around to various points where they can get out and view animals close up, but fences in between. I though, walk pretty much all the park... I just love being out in nature when time and opportunity permits. Sounds like you had a great holiday, as short as it was. Thank you both very much for sharing part of it with us, especially Damo for allowing us into your private life and holiday. You are both very giving people and most appreciated in a world that's become very selfish in recent decades 🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️

Love koh chang i was there exactly 1 year ago. Much quiter than samui and phuket. Nice to see damo chilled out. Good to have a break away from the kids and the usual day to day grind. A week is usually enough then it's nice to go back to issan. Hope to see a few more vlogs from koh chang. 🙏🇹🇭

Back in the days of demonisation of lettuce when Bang Bao was one of the easiest places to indulge in Koh Chang, on the hill nearby at the Rasta View :) living in the moment on the islands is the best

The creature you didn’t know was a type of sea snail. Lovely to see you guys enjoying yourselves and so relaxed. Takes me down memory lane as I spent time on and around the islands including Koh Chang in the course of my work as a marine biologist. I actually prefer Koh kud as it is less touristy. Wonderful! The sea is in my blood or used to be. I spent many years sailing around the Med and doing long-distance deliveries. Now I live over 100 miles from the nearest beach but I'm okay with that. Like your wife, my wife and her family like nothing better than roaming around in the hills and growing stuff to eat/sell. It's their blood. My wife is 60 in a few months but still volunteers to help with the rice planting just because that's how she grew up.
