1) Fell in love with this bag at first sight. I took some old jeans and made myself the same one, saving money!
It’s impossible to count how many things have been made from old jeans. You can sew anything you want from this fabric. Clothes, bedspreads, shoes, pillows, toys, rugs, you can combine different colors and use different techniques. In general, you can’t count everything.
Jeans can be easily altered and are a pleasure to work with. This is basically patchwork, which involves an inexhaustible number of options.
The smallest pieces are used, adding them up to create a beautiful design.
The bags are very durable. Today I sewed this thing, the main highlight of which is the striped pattern.
The idea for this bag was inspired in a fashionable shopping center in St. Petersburg. There it cost about 5 thousand rubles, but for me it turned out no worse and for free.
- For work, I cut out strips of fabric measuring 3.5x12.5 cm. For this I took denim in three colors.
- These strips are arranged like a herringbone parquet, the colors move from dark to light.
- The first two strips should be placed on top of each other at a 90 degree angle, face to face. Make a stitch, then unscrew and stitch again. Sew the next strips in the same way, alternating one on the left and the other on the right.
- For the front of the bag, I sewed three blanks, trimmed the edges and sewed them together.
- I sewed the back part from dark denim and sewed on cut out pockets from the jeans.
- I stitched a bar on top.
- I sewed these parts together and formed the bottom by sewing 6 cm corners, perpendicular to the seam.
- I cut out strips for the handles, folded them, stitched them and turned them inside out. Then I folded it lengthwise again and stitched along the edge, not reaching the end of the handles. I sewed the handles to the bag, the distance between them was 15 cm.
- The zipper will be slightly in the back of the bag. I made this little thing at the tip.
Here's how I sewed the zipper step by step:
- I sewed the finished part into the bag.
- I sewed the lining. I paired it with my bag. For turning, I left an open cut, then stitched it shut.
The bag turned out to be light, strong, and in a single copy.
Now I can go with her for a walk or to the store. Perfect for those who don't like bags.
2) My old jeans are no longer collecting dust in the closet. I made a useful accessory out of them and saved a lot.
I’ll be happy to show you how I made a denim bag for going to the market for groceries.
I sewed them from flared jeans that I haven’t worn for a long time.
To do this we need:
- Cut the bottom of the legs to fit the bag.
- Cut out rectangles and sew on three sides. You don't even have to process the entrance to the bag.
- You can sew a pocket on the back side.
- Sew handles from two strips in this way.
As a result, they are tough and strong.
- Sew handles to the bag.
Now all that remains is to show the wonders of design and create a real masterpiece.
- I chose flowers for decoration. First, I cut strips and cut out petals from them. I gathered the fabric onto a thread and it became a flower.
- You can attach these accessories to the bag with a needle and thread or hot glue - they will stick well.
Mother-of-pearl beads added chic.
If you have free time and a desire to be creative, you can use this idea and save a lot on buying a new bag.
