The per capita rice consumption in Ghana is steadily increasing due to population increase and shift in consumption patterns caused by urbanization. However, due to environmental changes and poor farming methods, farmers cannot keep up with the demand increase.
2018 AWARD Fellow Dr. Patricia Oteng-Darko is working with local farmers and extension officers on new and improved methods to plug the market deficit and improve smallholders' livelihoods.
