Smart Bird is a Robot Bird made by Festo.
The Festo has some robots that mimic some nature animals and the SmartBird is one of them. So if you want to see others go to www.festo.com
The demonstration in this video was made using a celphone by William Basso in the FEMAC 2012 Anhembi - SP - Brazil.

It’s been 8 years already since this video has been released. I still stop in and watch this in awe. Such an amazing piece of technology. I’m a big drone fan and love flying them professionally and review them on my KZfaq channel. I would of loved to been able to try this or at least seen this in person. Take care and God bless

Geniuses!!!! It is so realistic, that it's almost incomprehensible. I especially enjoyed when the other birds flew along side it. Seemed as though they were trying to figure out what kind of bird it was. I enjoyed the dragon fly as well, very realistic. This company will be worth billions in a very short time.

When I was a kid I had a blue and white rubber powered free flight one of these. Think they called it a orenthopter or something like that.. it’s not a new concept.

The transition from flapping wings to spinning blades to jet propulsion was critically important bc flapping wings requires immensely more energy and could never attain speed or reliability. Leave flapping wings it to the birds.
