I thought feminists would be the first ones celebrating rising the marriageable age of women in India from 18 to 21 - same as the age for men. But surprisingly, famous feminist pages go against this move. Why do feminists want these girls to get married by 18?

The moment Government tabled this law in the parliament I knew it was good for women but I saw that feminists did not support it, all I could do at that point was laugh seeing the amount of mental gymnastics feminists were pulling to prove this law is bad😂

Me and my friends we having a casual talk and we all realised that most of us had no idea what we wanted to do in life until we were like 21 and these so called feminists think that women at 18 are mature enough to get married have family and take care of the family. Most men and women finish their bachelor's degree around 21 and for them to find a stable job it would take like 2 to 3 years and in worst case more than that. So technically men/women have some stability in their life around 25 which I would say is better age to think about marriage compared to 18. At 18 most of us just finish our school and expecting that person to get married have a family and be a perfect wife/mother/daughter in law and whatever is literally dumb

@@snehaswati4987 Raising the age of marriage will create a similar situation like America. Because you are restricting an adult person to get married. So the adult women will have sex and become unmarried Mother even if she don't get married. Don't forget the age beween 19-26 is peak fertile year of woman. And Most women will try to use peak fertility. Biology has it's own Time table. Education, career can be managed later but if woman lost her peak fertile time ie. 19-26 she will never get that back. If a poor woman get married at 27 and not able to get pregnent then who will pay for her infertility teratment? You? Modi Govt.?

You just brushed the real issue... 1. Interfaith and intercaste marriages. 2. If the UCC comes into effect this law would have on marriage-ble age of muslim girls. Certainly it would be better that a girl is mature mentally and can stand on her own. So that she can make a better decision for herself. Older girls have a better chance at expressing their choice. Whereas young ones can be overwhelmed by the family. So why are feminists opposing this law...why do they want girls to be young and naive while making such decisions?

It is a nonsensical question to ask what the age of adulthood worldwide, because it is not the same worldwide. For example, in Japan, the age of consent is 13 years, in Netherlands its 16, in France , it is 15 and so on and so forth. You have to choose based on your situation.

The increase in marriageable age to 21 years for women will increase the education level of women in the country. Currently, quite a number of women are married off by 18 and in most cases it is left to the husband or in-laws to decide whether she should pursue further studies. Once the age is increased to 21 years, there are more chances of women to complete graduation and get a job, thus be independent compared to 17 years with a pre-degree or 12th pass certificate. With higher levels of education/training there is a better level of competency, and a nation that wants to progress economically should have a balanced and higher level of competency in both women and men.

*at **9:26** they can do that at the age of 21 as well* I am sorry but you don't get to decide if they want to marry at 18,19, 20 or 21. If you want to marry at 25 and want to have a child by 30 (which is unhealthy for both mother and child), by all means, go for it, you are free to do that, just like they are free to do that, freedom works both ways, but you don't have the right to force others for when they should get married or not, it's not yours or mine buisness. Period ! Also, Aastha if you are free to date a man at 18, you are free to marry someone at 18, if you believe that 18 is too young for marriage why aren't you applying the same logic for having sex and dating at 18 ? since pre frontal cortex of brain haven't completely develop by that age if we are talking from scientific & biological perspective. And, let's legalize no dating or sex till 21 if we are talking about matureness, let's remove voting at 18, since most 18 year olds are still kids, don't understand government policies, don't have job and isn't paying tax. There is another point of demographics here, which i think is different topic but related, to bring into this discussion, so i am going to avoid that at the moment.

@@SS-hy4dy Demographics in sense : increasing marriage age will lead to decline of birth rate for mostly Hindu's as they only follow law, kerela birth rate is being compensate or balance by UP & bihar > which means due to this law in a few decades or so Muzlim will start becoming majority in many places in country > since that community rarely follow constitution which leads to these so called pheminist women in burkha eventually by conversion. I thought about making a video in details when i get the time but sadly i couldn't get time yet.

Nice you are much more concerned about birth rates in the society and about how marriage after 21 can affect the majority-minority thing coz some minority ppl don't usually follow laws ! (As you said) And you not talking about how that affects that girls life ! And let's take a scenario where after marriage the girl and boy don't wanna have any child ! Ok that sex part is a bit chaotic topic and ppl have versatile opinion about that and as I'm lazy to argue so i am not going to touch that topic though it's related ! Now tell me how dating after or before 18 is affecting the society and what's wrong in that ? Note : with a lil bit of good planning for a baby , someone can actually have a baby after 25 without affecting the baby's health ! Don't talk like age is just a number like 1 year is just a number and its like one day ! Someone can easily have a baby at 27 . Is it unhealthy for a mother to bear a baby ? (According to your give stats it's not ) and if someone actually marrying at 25 then they weren't doing shit with their life untill they were 25 (in most of the cases) .... they were making a stable life to live after their marriage (maybe ) .... At last i just wanna say , Don't generalise stuff like that , talk about how marriage after 21 harming the girls ?
