For a simple speed-training event I think 11.47 is quite good for a 400meter specialist. With a little more sprint work in the training she can bring that down to something like 11.2 or so. More then fast enough for a 400 meter runner.

Sydney ran 11.07 in 2018. It was wind aided but converts to a legal wind time of 11.15, much faster than Bol and that was 6 years ago when Sydney was 18 years old.

@@phoebus She was at peak condition for the world indoor Championships, then they do a little break and they start the preparation again for the outdoor season(peaking in July/August). So now it's the start of the outdoor season and she is absolutely not in peak form, in July/August she can probably run 11.2. But of course McLaughlin is faster than her in 100m, while Bol has more endurance

She doesn't look, or sound, like a steroid user. McLaughlin has Al Joyner as her trainer. He was the husband of Flo Jo, he stated during a TV interview, she held the family record, he said "I wouldn't let any women beat me, and when she did, I knew no woman could beat her" Al Joyner came 9th and 8th in the US Olympic trials for the 110m high hurdles in 1984 and 1988 respectively. When he attempted to go to the 1992 Olympic trials, he and Flo Jo, were in a car crash which injured him out, and caused her injuries as well.

I don’t think you know what impressive means. I mean it’s a good time for her but it’s not impressive. In fact that is one of the slowest 100m times you will find for a 400m runner.

@@kc5466 McLaughlin has an "illegal" (because of 3.5 ms tail wind) PB of 11.07. That means that her real PB on the 100m will be somewhere between 11.1 and 11.2 that is not very much better bro.

@@rientsdijkstra4266 Elaine is off the 100m record by .05 and that is considered a lot for a 100m runner. Despite the proximity. And you’re trying to say a .2 difference isn’t a lot for a 100m sprint? Despite that time being set 6 years ago. Yes! Any sprinter would say an 11.2 is in fact much better than an 11.4 in a 100m race. Because one of the times wouldn’t even qualify for US trials. And for future reference 11.07 in +3.5w is 11.13 in 2.0w, 11.18 in 1.0w, and 11.23 in dead wind.

@@kc5466 you are confusing things. Yes, for a 100 meter sprinter 0.05 of the pace is a lot. But on the 400 all times are more than 4x longer, so percentage wise 0.05 on the 100 is equal to 0.2 or more on the 400, secondly these are not 100 meter sprinters, so the start is less important (to quote the great Michael Johnson: on the 400 it is better not go all out from the start, because you have to conserve energy).

I don’t think Sydney’s afraid to race anyone either, but Femke has said that she welcomes the chance to race against Sydney because it will bring out the best in her! I also admire how much Femke enjoys competing with everyone! Immediately after each race she’s walking around greeting each and every competitor! She’s a fierce competitor but also as good of a sportsman as I’ve seen! I wish both Femke & Sydney the best of luck and if they do both compete in the 400 H, it will be one of the biggest events in the Paris Olympics!

@@rientsdijkstra4266Bol had been running the 400 meter since 2014 same year that Sydney started running the 400 hurdles. Bol then added the hurdles in 2019, so no Sydney has not been running the hurdles eight years longer than Bol. Also Sydney's times in every event, the 100 meter, the 100 meter hurdles, the 200 meter, the 400 meter and the 400 meter hurdles are all better than Bol's times, some significantly better. Sydney is a much better overall athlete and who hold's the World Record in the 400mh? It ain't Bol.

@@phoebus in her first year with 14 strides pattern Sydney ran 51.46, Bol 51.45(last year). So the fact that Bol started later with hurdles is important, and about the 400 flat her time is slower because she doesn't focus on the outdoor 400, with 49.17 indoors she can run at least 48.3 outdoors so clearly faster than McLaughlin. And of course McLaughlin is faster in 100 and 200, she has more endurance. If you let them run the 800m Bol wins by 5 seconds
