This is Fender American Vintage '65 Jaguar. This legendary short scale guitar shares the same period correctness and complete redesign as the other Fender American Vintage models. Its classic looks are achieved by a thin, flash coat, nitro lacquer or alder in Candy Apple Red. Just as it was in '65, the maple neck gets a mid 60's profile and an elegant bound round-laminated rosewood fingerboard with large pearl dot inlays. The rounder 7.25" radius combined with the shorter 24" scale also makes this guitar an effortless player.
New American Vintage '65 single coils produce a wide range of clear, jangling rhythm or fat singing leads thanks to the Jaguar's unique dual circuit design, complete with on/off and bass cut switch. And don't forget the special touches like a switchable bridge mute with included cover and the always expressive Jaguar floating tremolo.

I love that unlike 98% of people playing fender guitars on youtube, Andy doesn't just wank off on blues pentatonic scales the whole time, but plays simple yet very tasteful tunes that accentuate what the particular featured gear is good at/for.

If your're advertising a Gibson with a Marshall, than some tasteless pentatonic playing would be passable. What's cool is that he incorporates styles that the guitar was built for, such as beachy flavors for this Jag here.

I'm worried that the Classic Player's higher output pickups would sound thicker and too modern or even generic, but the reason I want it is for it's flatter fretboard. Wish I still had my '64 pre-CBS for comparison, but for detail freaks: the neck on a Jag was not bound till they went to the block inlays in , I believe, '66. The '64 still had small clay dots. On the originals, the head was painted the same color as the body, with the exception of the sunburst finish. The body was alder and the neck rock maple, the fretboard was rosewood. I miss my '64 Jag. bought it used in '83 for $300. Obscene what they cost now.

bullshit. They introduced binding on jags and Jms in 1965, when they still had dot inlays. However they did introduce block inlays in '66 and you are correct about the matching headstocks on custom colors. I don't know what year they stopped using clay dots, but I'd assume it was in 64/65.

I own the Squier Vintage Modiefied Jaguar in Seafoam green and it sounds almost identical to this version. Unless you are one of those people that absolutely has to have the fender version, pick one up, the build quality is so solid, and it has so many features packed in that I almost feel like I should have paid another $200 for it, because it is one hell of a guitar for the mere $300 that you spend on it. I own a Fender Modern player Jazzmaster, and a Fender Kurt Cobain signature Mustang, and the Sqiuer Jaguar seriously stands up to these guitars that cost hundreds of dollars more. The Kurt Cobain signature Mustang is my favorite of what I own, because it is in a league of it's own as far as how mean and loud it is, but the VM Jaguar is certainly a great guitar on it's own, hell, if you have the thousand bucks to spend for this thing I would say buy yourself the Squier Jag and maybe another Squier VM guitar of your choice and buy some good pedals to go with it and have fun with the diversity.

***** the squier jags and jazzmasters are amazing for how little they cost . As long as they're set up right, the pickups on these Fenders can be had cheaply, so the only reason to spend so much on the expensive ones, is if the name on the headstock means that much to you.

ENTIRELY DIFFERENT GUITARS The squire uses basswood which musically is darker sounding and associated with cheaper build guitars because its cheap. The fender American vintage uses choice Alder wood. Also take into effect the incredibly cheap hardware being put on the squire. There is a reason you are only paying $299.99 as opposed to $2399.99. And it's just not the name. The only squire I found worth wild was the J Mascis Jazzmaster.

In all honesty, if you are in the market for a high quality Jaguar, I'd be looking at a Johnny Marr model. It's getting great wraps, though it isn't strictly a vintage replica. Lots of folks replace the bass cut switch with a series/parallel mod to the same switch on vintage correct Jaguars.

Just put an aluminum iodized pickguard on the Jazzmaster or any Fender for that matter that hums or hisses. The aluminum's magnetic field cancels out that hiss. And it does not effect the tone or output at all. In fact Leo Fender used this type of pickguard early on in Fender's history. It's sounds like having a pair of noiseless pickups in there.
