I bought a Fender Pro Junior. It was blowing fuses. That problem was tube related. But I decided to give this amp a full service and address the problems
that this amp had. We sort the high bias, re-cap, and sort a few other minor problems. This amp sounds mint now all the problems are corrected

Hey Martyn, Great re-work of a questionably designed amp. I guess you decided to leave the heater voltage alone..? Your play at the end is always the best part.

Hello David, thank you. Yes, I was in two minds what to do about the heater voltage. It's hard to say how much it will shorten the life of the tubes. They will certainly last a lot longer now it is biased correctly. Thanks David and take care.

Just shows the difference speakers can make.. I wonder which single speaker fitted in the Pro Jnr cab would improve it ? Great video again Martyn and brilliant playing demo.

Cracking repair, those loose valve sockets would have started crackling eventually and possibly even dropped a tube. The power tubes retainer springs seemed to have no top bracket? Great tone even with the single combo speaker. Phenomenal playing. Thanks

Brad's Guitar Garage says he has measured 430-440 volts on EL84's in Mesa amplifiers, which is just one of many reasons why he refuses to work on anything from that company.

Yes, I almost ripped the board out. Mind you , it wouldn't take much to mod it in to a 5E3

They could. I think if I get another one, I am gonna go for the 5E3. I reckon the turret board might just fit in.

With playing as good as Martyn's, the neighbors should consider themselves lucky! Most techs are nowhere near as musically skilled; and then there's myself, even worse.....

Martyn, how you coming with that Masco? I posted some technical info about that model in the comment section of your (presumably) Part 1 video; and also wanted to let you know that I posted a video in my channel about using "scratch brushes" for soldering preparation and removal of tarnish/oxidation.

I'm glad the customer removed the tubes before shipping it, but it would have been nice if he hadn't chewed up the screwheads so badly. Jeez, folks, use a good quality screwdriver with the correct size tip and save the poor repair tech some trouble!

Hello. It might not have been the customer. There was been signs that a few people had been in this amp. Like the Ferrite dooferer an the speaker wire. But as you say, not great. Take care.

Do my eyes deceive me or is there a Ferrite inductor surrounding the speaker wires going to the output jack? What the F is that about?

If so, that hopefully filters off possible huge high frq parasitic oscillation signal from speaker cable. 😊

@@jutukka , if a tube amp needs ferrites to prevent parasitoc oscillation, it probably has poor design and layout.

@@goodun2974 It of course does not prevent parasitic oscillations but could prevent speaker wire acting like a parasitic oscillation transmitter antenna. 😁

@@jutukka Seems to me that the output transformer should provide sufficient bandwidth limiting for that! Interestingly, I did work on an amp some years ago that despite a full recap exhibited trailing ghost notes until I grounded the speaker frame to the amp chassis.

@@goodun2974 If it is a ferrite inductor, maybe it is supposed to bring some magical mojo to the sound then, because those things must cost a couple of cents. 🤔
