Love the quality of Fenix, if I had to pick 1 torch for life it would probably be one of theirs, but I do miss the option to go directly to moonlight or turbo.

I read the long comments below. I bought the PD25R and really like it. Sure, I have small Olights and I like them but I have several larger Fenix flashlights including some of the more recent products which are really incredible. The PD25R is the only "little" lights that has the feel in my hand of my larger Fenix lites especially the PD35 TAC. Your flashlight build quality and performance plus the great customer service of the Fenix-Store have my respect and business. Thanks, Bruce

I have 2 LD20s from 2010.. Daily carry for one of them and it still works. I also have a PD32 from 2012 I believe. Same on reliable performance. Money well spent.

I like this! I was gonna buy a Fenix tk16 v2 yesterday, but the store ran out of stock when I called them. I am considering this in my next purchase of small lights. I have an Olight i5t, sofirn SC31 pro and other brands but when I bought the little E12 v2, I loved it's build quality.

I had the original PD25 and it’s by far my favorite light. The size is perfect. Great power and runtime balance. Take the Fenix rechargeable battery or the standard CR123. Love but my son lost my clip and now the actual light too. So I think I’ll be picking this one up.

Just bought this one. I really like it. Very nice one. I have a bunch of olights and fenix lights. I prefer fenix for design and quality. Seems a bit better like tougher feels in my hand. I just love it.

If you prefer a candela there are plenty of pocket thrower or pocket cannon if you prefer to call it that from other brands that have a higher candela than the Fenix ​​PD25R and some flashlights can also be used with short tubes like Sofirn SP35 with Wurkkos 20350 short tube. For pocket throwers, I prefer the Convoy S2+, S21A and S21B because of their affordable prices, wide choice of LEDs and using a simple tube design with a fairly slim size. Spare parts are also provided at an affordable price so they are easy to repair or modify, I still don't have the desire to modify my flashligt but I really like how easy it is to replace the glass lens or the switch if it breaks and I can even replace the reflector to get narrow or wider beam. I currently use the Convoy S21B with the Osram KW CULPM1.TG LED and 20350 Wurkkos tube which makes the flashlight as short as 8.8cm with a diameter of 2.75cm. According to 1Lumen my Convoy S21B is capable of producing a maximum candela of 57,500cd and capable of sustaining 29,136cd and over 700 lumens for more than 2 hours when using a 4000mAh battery. At 57K candela and 29K candela the Convoy S21B only draws 6.13 Amp and 2.19 Amp so the 20350/18350/16340 battery on the market will still be good enough, but the runtime will be shorter because the highest capacity of the 20350/18350 battery is only around 1400mAh.

I appreciate your elaborate explanation about lumens vs candela however I don't see much practical use for a bright yet narrow beam other than maybe annoying your neighbors

Lovely Review Sir. Beam is great for the size but I am concerned about runtimes. I am confused between this or E18R V2.0. I like smaller form factor and magnetic tail of E18r. Any suggestion?

There is actually a better offering from Sofirn that beats this light in multiple edc characteristics as long as you will also add in your order a short tube to accommodate an 18350 cell and a magnetic tailcap. Plus get yourself a high drain 18350 cell from Efest or Vapcell to match the candela ratings of this pd25r but with a wider and much more useful hotspot for every day tasks. It's the Sofirn sc31pro. 2000+ lumens with the high drain cell and roughly the same candela rating, 12500 cd with stock sofirn cells but a bit higher than that with the high drain cell. Why it's better? Magnetic tail cap that also can make the light to tailstand, this pd25r cannot Anduril ui that is far more capable and programmable to the user's needs than the cycle through ui fenix uses The pocket clip can be put reversed on the light's head to be used on a hat as a headlamp without the need of a dual way pocket clip. Same size as this one just a tad fatter at 1inch diameter Better pricing. 25$ for the light, 2-3$ for the short tube and magnetic tailcap and 6-7$ for the extra high drain cell. Half the price of the pd25r in total More peripheral visibility cause of the larger hotspot and as i said with pretty much the same candela Drawbacks vs the pd35r that i can think of? Runtimes should be worse because of the high lumen output that will suck the battery faster. The good thing is that it has fast charging and it takes less time to fully charge the 18350 cell than it takes to discharge it when using it. In less than half an hour the battery can be topped up from almost empty. Besides all that i agree that this is a great offering from fenix and slowly the company is keeping up with the competition, just recently they adopted the type c charging ports and onboard charging overall. Something that Olight seems to disregard entirely despite people wanting to change to type-c charging and away from the proprietary chargers and batteries. But Chinese companies like Sofirn/Wurkkos, Convoy, Lumintop, Astrolux, Noctigon/Emisar and many others that I can't remember right now, have set the bar so up high with amazing specs and features on their lights and at 1/3 of the price from the well known companies like Fenix, Nitecore, Olight that i see no reason to ever consider buying something from those known companies that provides less features and performance at double or even triple the price. And wait till you one day discover the Skylumen website. It is essentially a tune up/modifications e-shop "garage" for flashlights! Where you can order almost any light you want but buffed up to the max for crazy performances and specific orders for pretty much any led add on. The latest and greatest for example led it the market is the Sbt90.2 that provides 5000 lumens, and on the Skylumen page you can put that to any light you wish! This e-shop is indeed a flashahollic's paradise! People should definitely check it out before purchasing their next flashlight from whatever brand that might be! Try ordering from them a Fenix Pd25r but with the osram kw cslnm1.tg led in it and watch that 15.000 candela rating rising to 30.000-40.000 cd if that's your thing. You can also add a V54(Skylumen's logo) engraved on your light. It's nuts!

This light is poorly designed. I have owned this light for a few months now and about half of the time I use it, I accidentally hit the side switch when activating the tail switch. The light is just too small to have a side switch that can be activated simultaneously with the tail switch. Every time you grip the light your fingers or palm will be touching the side switch whether you like it or not. Without a side switch this light would have been an absolute home run. I cannot believe any of these reviewers are mentioning this.

800 lumens is not a pocket cannon. There are brighter ones for the size. Guess I'm going with the LD30R at 1700 and same price just a tiny bit longer

With all the innovation FENIX does to their lights....you'd think they would also make sure to put a visible LED "power level/mode" indicator on the light NOT hidden under a ring. Like OLIGHT has dooe with their Seeker 3/PRO and Warrior 3 lights. Do their version of the "warrior 3"---have both a tail mounted button and one on the side. Gotta have a LED power level indicator visible at all times.
