Fenix EFB Tutorial: • Using the Fenix A320 E...
Post video release edit: The comments regarding sound in the cockpit are a bug. During filming, Spencer had master volume set to 10 in sim, which lowers the volume of the engines, but does not impact the volume of the air conditioning. When setting the master volume to 100, the sounds are not muffled, and the roar is authentic.

One of the greatest things about the Fenix a320 is the dev team behind it. They are a new team and have been very open and have been directly communicating with the community since the product‘s first announcement, which is a very rare occurrence in Flight Simulation. I don’t wanna start Name-calling, but I‘ve been fed up with many, many devs in the flight sim community for example including unwanted things with their software, terrible and exploitative pricing strategies, terrible communication/PR or blaming someone else for everything without any explanation for months. One of the main reasons I’ve bought this aircraft is to support this new promising dev team and incredible price which they set for the new, larger market of MSFS. I still find it incredible how devs can charge more than 80$ on MSFS for basically a P3D product.

This is truly a next generation aircraft, whereas I sense that other study aircraft to date have been more of an attempt to port to MSFS. I really can't see myself flying much else, at least until I get the urge for a more manual fly in a 737. As far as performance is concerned, I have everything on ultra but a not quite cutting edge system - very similar to the reviewer's rig in fact - and haven't noticed any issues at all.

I’m not gonna lie I just got this aircraft and I am AMAZED at how realistic this plane seriously is and it’s no wonder why, it is the most realistic aircraft in MSFS next to PMDG 737. This is not just a simple aircraft from what I’ve learned. I have this now and the Flyby Wire aircraft which I definitely love too. Flyby Wire is like the Fenix of the NEO. But, but the Fenix absolutely beats the Flyby Wire and it’s definitely something you highly expect how a plane should be in MSFS. Other than that, the sounds absolutely strike me in a way of u feel like you’re on the real plane itself. Yea it’s a little quiet inside but not super quiet! It’s very accurate in sound wise! Absolutely would recommend this aircraft and I have always wanted to get my hands on this plane big time. I am definitely going to have to really get to know this aircraft regardless.

I've had no performance issues at all, Ryzen 9, 3070 (Razer laptop). This is simply the best plane I've ever flown in MSFS. There are some little details I'd like them to add, such as announcements (like Flybywire has), but the fact that's what I'm focusing on means this add on is already as close to perfect as you can get.

I have an i7700K running at 4.9 GHz and an RTX 2080TI on W10 and have not noticed any performance issues at all. I have mostly High settings and cap frame rate at 30 fps and it rarely drops below that and is buttery smooth. When I unlock the frame rate, I get about 45-50 fps but a little stuttering and CPU use is close to 100%. Locking the frame rate at 30 fps drops the CPU usage to 80% and no stutters. This is about the same as the FBW A320. I don’t have the PMDG 737 yet, so can’t compare. I haven’t had a single crash in 30 flight hours that I have used the Fenix. The i7 is about 5 years old now, so would qualify as an older CPU. I did set the performance to balanced and render my displays on the RTX2080 TI. I think the performance issues people are having are much more complicated than just the age of systems. I think tuning MSFS properly has a lot to do with these issues honestly.

How well does it work with the MSFS World Planner? My issue with the FBW A320 is that I only get it working well with a paid subscription to simbrief. So it is funny when people tell me that the FBW a320 is free when you have to pay for a subscription to simbrief. I don't really want to pay a subscription fee. If it works well with the world planner, then I would buy the Fenix version.

I think people with Ryzens or other high core count CPUs are fine. At least on my Ryzen 7 3700 (8 core) I don't see a big difference compared to the PMDG 737, even with just an RTX 2070 (1080 roughly high settings). Could really just be the prosim software needing another few cores. So, if you have that kind of system, you're probably fine, even with a mid tier GPU. I've seen the performance mentioned by many people, but all that I've seen had lower core counts, so it seems likely to me.

After seeing the reviews I decided to buy this, what a horrible mistake, all of the reviews are full of lies, the flight model absolutely sucks, nowhere close to the amazing flight models of xplane or p3d, the autopilot is also horrible, it likes to twitch and the autothrottle doesnt even want to follow the speed even in climb mode, the speed itself likes to twitch alot, if you stray off course you should be able to reengage the ap and it should get you back on course in the real a320, guess what, in the fenix you cant, it just wont engage, the throttle calibration is just horrible, they force you to make the 0 percent value a reverse thrust value, so if you set your throttle to idle it will go to reverse thrust, which is not good for people without detents, so I am forced to use the default calibration. Their support hasnt replied to my tickets since the release. The performance has been fixed but is still horrible compared to other planes. While flying the ff a320 and toliss a321 in x plane 11, I have never had a single problem, yet the fenix is just giving me problems left and right. Seems like every mfs addon is horrible, I'll just stick to xplane.

No one is telling lies. You’re just having a bad experience. The magnifying glass has been on this aircraft by the community and A320 pilots alike. If there were lies, they would have been exposed. Sounds like all of your issues are related to the throttle twitch or the MCDU is not setup correctly to manage flight. Generally, when the A320 comes off the flight plan you need to hit DIR on the MCDU and select the next waypoint you’re heading toward then engage the managed heading mode and A/P. But if you have controls twitching that might stop it from working.

@@FSElite not gonna comment on his claims that all Fenix reviews are lies (due to lack of evidence), but apart from that, there's crystal clear evidence for most of the things he said or claimed here. The problem is that due to the huge popularity of MSFS 2020 in the vocal gaming, scenery, graphics and entertainment crowd, the negative reviews get buried, and there are times when reviewers intentionally refrain from pointing out bad things about MSFS addons due to fear of getting lynched by the said crowd and community. This crowd don't care about accuracy and high fidelity flight dynamics. Never did and probably never will. For example I can quote ex-Airbus and 787 pilot and a renowned aviation photographer Captain Darren Howe from Australia who said about the Fenix A320 (irrelevant segments of the quote has been removed for brevity. Misspellings were fixed.): "The fenix is about as "unrealistic" as it comes. Overhead panel hasn't been used on any A320 family member in 20 years. Fuel flows are off by 50%. Pitch attitudes are completely incorrect in short the entire flight model is simply a disaster. The fonts are all wrong. engine parameters are all incorrect relative to one another. Vnav is majorly broken. the perf calculator is a circa 1995 time as it doesn't use optimized take off performance calculations giving far to low speeds for runway lengths. So as for realism..no its not even remotely "real" its a hodge-podge of different A320's thrown together using prosim which is VERY old systems wise. When fenix failed to implement the external flight model from prosim the entire project slid into the near enough is good enough area but when it comes to marketing yourself as the 'best" not only are they not that they are a LONG way from that." 1/2
@evidenceplz
@evidenceplz 2 жыл бұрын
@@FSElite 2/2 He then goes on to say: "the aircraft flies nothing at all like any A320 I've ever flown. 20 degrees pitch up with a flex take off. seriously its so far off it can climb on one engine with 15 degrees nose up btw 15 is the standard pitch attitude for any flex take off on two engines. As for it being able to climb on one engine at 15 degrees nose up try that in a real sim and see how long your alive for. Id say under 10 seconds before you hit the ground. Fenix completely disregarded the FCOM when creating this A320 ignoring values like 15 and 12 as standard pitch values backed up by decades of flight experience from several of there testers. As i said when fenix couldn't get the external flight model to work it just became a fourth best half finished addon. Using prosim may be good for systems but when the systems your modelling the the IRU simulation chosen isn't even approved for RNP AR and was replaced over 15 years ago exactly how seriously should they be taken. Again this product was marketed as being the be all and end all of Airbus simulations. i didn't say that. Fenix did, numerous times. All they delivered was a half finished half obsolete A320 that represents not one real A320 ever flown with a mish mash of systems from over the last 25 years. Prosim is old..very old and any semblance to a modern A320 is purely coincidental. The failures i.e. the ECAM actions in many cases are long changed from what prosim have. Everyone's mileage will vary but I'm looking at this the way Fenix marketed it and the marketing opinions from those provided with copies by Fenix being spread by numerous streamers without either the experience, knowledge or will to say it. Everyone's mileage will vary and that's fine but all these ultrarealistic claims are unfounded."

@@TheFlightSimDeck Flight simulation is a hardcore scientific subject matter which first and foremost revolves around the simulation of "flight" aka aerodynamics aka physics. If the first principals aka physics is wrong, everything else connected to it will ultimately be wrong. This is a subject that you study and research and not just believe what random people claiming to be a real pilot in the internet say. We have seen plenty of fake pilots come and go in recent years. Quite a few of them in the civilian and combat flight sim communities were exposed. Don't believe everything you hear. KZfaq is big money. You establish an audience in any subject matter and say good things about the products they purchase and if you do it right you can make six figures annually, if not seven, just from KZfaq. Science doesn't care about your bank balance or youtube subscriber figures. On top of that, not all real pilots possess the same experience, knowledge and skills. They aren't aeronautical engineers, aerodynamicists or scientists. Not all of them view things in the same way, nor are they all honest. Ever heard of the "pitch or power" debate? Ever heard of Theranos and Elizabeth Holmes? Remember how many people believed her lies and invested millions of dollars into her company? I respectfully invite you to take into your consideration both the positive and negative reviews written about the products you purchased and then use some of your own brain cells to study, analyze and research them instead of merely believing random sound bites. It sounds difficult but it's really not.
