Samuel etoo the striker. was better than r9. R9 is just a hype up player. If he didn't play for Brazil. He would be like any regular flashy player's. Etoo is better than R9.. If R9 played for the current Brazil team. He would like any regular flashy dribbling players. He never won a UCL.. Etoo is far better than R9. You guys love to hype these Brazilian players up. If R9 didn't play for Brazil, which had a lot of pack players. He would not have won the world cup. That you folks glamorize Soo much. Etoo played for a weaker team and beat R9 Brazil, in the confederation cup. Being the one goal scorer. Scoring the winner. Etoo beat R9 with El clasico between Barca and real Madrid. Etoo won back to back champion leagues. No body has done that. R9 never even won a Champions league. Yet you guys hype em up just because he was a magician with the ball and could wow people. Etoo was a scorer. He put the ball at the back of the net.....

I'm talking about talent, ability, what he could do on a pitch, the emotions he elicited with his football, the way he moved, the skills he had, his power, pace, technique, finishing ability and the sheer genius of the man. Played for both Milan rivals and both Barcelona and Real Madrid but adored by all sets of fans. R9 the phenomenon is your favorite player's favorite player.

@@emiloprisa man. R9 literally is a hype job. R9 even admitted in he's documentaries that Brazil was packed, and he found himself competing with he's teammates to score goal. When R9 didn't score he's teammates would score. So R9 was playing for a team that was fully packed to the core. That's why he won the world cup. I'm not saying he didn't score goals. Etoo the striker is far better than r9. He won a champions league for inter Milan which R9 Could not do. He won Inter their first UCL in more than 30 years while R9 Complians that italian training had a lot of running. While R9 COMplaints that italian series A training has too much running..

my grandfather watched football for about 50 years, he watched football's greatest evers the likes pele, cruyff, maradona, messi(young), cr7(young) , zidane , ronaldinho , r9, mathaüs, oleg blokhin ........ but confirms me that the greatest ever he witnessed was r9, he told me r9 was a player having dribbling like maradona, shooting like pele pace like no other he was just out of the world , he rates him as good as pele, maradona etc sadly he passed away in 2017

I remember the first football match I ever saw was Italy-Czekoslovakia during the euro 96, which Italy lost, but I became a fan of Italy ever since. But the player who truly made me fall in love with the beautiful game is Ronaldo the Phenomenon. I have never and I repeat never seen a player so talented on a football pitch. Not then, not ever. He was just so different, so fast, so skilled with the ball, could shoot with both feet the same way ( and only those who played football can tell how massive that is to one's game ), so strong on his feet. He for me is the greatest player to ever play and the most complete player I have ever seen

Legend Yet humble. Anyone who has seen him during his peak immediately fell in love with the beautiful game. His dribbling skills for a striker were best ever. The real phenomenon. Brazil produced a battery of great players during that time - Romario, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, Carlos, Kaka, Robinho, Adriano, Bebeto but Ronaldo was something else. Genius is the word.

He is the best ever for me. Because it’s not easy to overcome 3 serious knee injuries . Not to mention how he comeback from wc final 98 nightmare. From became scapegoat, injuries,lost scudetto in last game, personal problems such as divorce, doubts etc. Then he won the world cup and revived his career. + he had to change his explosive style into more poacher, due to knee injury, and still great.

Check this, almost every club he went to. He didn't need "time to settle in" and mind you he moved from Cruzeiro>PSV Eindhoven>Barcelona>Internazionale in a span of 4/5 years and with all those clubs, he HIT THE GROUND RUNNING. He did all of this from teenager to adulthood. There was no social media back then so for a player to generate that kind of buzz that he did wasn't easy especially playing in that era of football I mean the man was sought after at the age of 21 but he played like he was 10 years his senior. No wonder he is called, il Fenomeno.

From a Real Madrid fan, with my heart in my hand, Messi is what it is because he is one of the greatest, for sure, but also because of the decisive factor of playing in one of the best teams (if not the best) of all time, that unstoppable Barcelona from Guardiola. Messi without Barcelona has been suffering during years with Argentina national team while his Barcelona team mates where winning European and World Cups... I have seen many players but NONEONE close to Ronaldo between 1994-1999. It was a shame his life style, here in Spain we all knew how he liked "the night life" and also his diet and health habits. When he got older that life style and his play style made easier him to get caught by injuries. Despite of ending career injuries for the 99% of the players, he returned and still was World class player, but before injuries he performed, almost achieved and specially SHOWED IN THE FIELD that he was simply and will be remembered as the GOAT by many of us.

Small note. The Fifa World Player of the Year award and the Ballon D'Or are separate awards. He won the Ballon D'Or in 1997, not 1996. He was 21 when he won the Ballon D'Or, still the youngest though.

There’s a back heel no look pass he did with inter. The step over wasn’t invested by him but he normalized it when attacking. Before him it was rarely seen, nowadays, even defenders do it. When you talk about the best ever ask how they influenced the game? There’s guys like Pele and Cruyff that changed the game, but the rest, how did they change it?

If you look in the footage Ronaldo had warmed up and was on the sideline ready to come in and mysteriously was told to sit. I wonder if someone had a play in that so he wouldn’t break the record of youngest to play in a World Cup? Hmmmmmmmm just saying. I think the footage is vs an African team , Cameroon I think .
