This Walt Disney cartoon released on November 25, 1938 by R.K.O. Radio Pictures and directed by Dick Rickard is based on the book "The Story of Ferdinand" by Munro Leaf. Little Ferdinand would much rather smell the flowers than butt heads with the other cows. When the men come to choose the bull for the fight, Ferdinand accidentally sits on a bumblebee. The men see him dash around madly, so they pick Ferdinand. Narrated by‎ ‎Don Wilson.

This cartoon just showed how peaceful these animals truly are. They don't want to fight in Corridas. They're suffering so much it makes them desperate to get out there, so their ultimate defense is attack.

Fun fact--the music was by Albert Hay Mallote, who wrote the setting of "The Lord's Prayer" one hears at weddings. On a more serious note, when I was a boy who didn't like to play football or engage in other rough-and-tumble games with most of the boys, but preferred to read or draw, "Ferdinand" taught me that that was OK.

Bruce Alan Wilson Another fun fact is that the "5 men" were the head animators, the "banderieros" and "picadores" were junior animators and the "matador" was Walt Disney. They even gave a nod to his sniveling little "yes" man! * I always liked the way Ferdinand licked the matador's shirt and vest back on too.

Plot twist: Ferdinand actually got sent too the slaughter house for being a bad fighting bull, and the reason he's happy and continues to now smell the flowers under his favorite tree is because he's in Heaven.

I even took a research about bulls. They hate things that are red, they're temperamental, and very strong🐂. But Ferdinand wasn't like the other bulls. He really loves sitting in his favorite spot in the oak tree and smelling the flowers💐. Ferdinand is much different than the other bulls, just like I'm different because of my autism. I believe Ferdinand likes himself just the way he is😌.

This is cute though I kind of like the movie version coming up to. No actual bull would want to go through things like bull fights and the running of the bull if they knew what ensues for them in the end of those events. That's partly the premise of it from what I saw in the trailer.

Marc Baker Well, the story wasn't solely Disney's to begin with; it's an adaptation of a children's book. That said, a new adaptation is fair game for any company that saw potential, and clearly Blue Sky saw some where Disney had simply moved on.

Just like most of the other things Disney puts out - especially back in the day - it's not a story they came up with. Another company could make (and have made) a Snow White cartoon based on the Grimms Brothers story. Just not include anything Disney put in there like the names of the Dwarfs.

they probably didn't bother to get a 100% accurate translation and just removed a few letters and added an A or an O at the ends of of the words figuring nobody would know
