Great video! How could you absorb so much of Shahnameh as it is not the only book you are covering! Shahnameh is full of surprises. Bijan & Manijeh is a nice love story with some distinctive features. It has an introduction where Ferdowsi explains that in a dark night when he felt sad, his partner (spouse?) narrated this story to him and asked him to include it in Shahnameh.

To the creater of this video : Thanks a lot brother for this informative video. To WHOever who is FIGHTING over which country did Ferdowsi belong to : He is from central region of Asia. He was born in Tus during ruling of Samanid Suni Muslim Empire capital city Samarkand and Bukhara located in todays Uzbekistan and died in Tus region during which was being ruled by Ghaznavid Suni Muslim Empire which its Capital was Ghazni located in todays Afghanistan Ghazni province. So Neither the word Iran existed back then nor Afghanistan , at least not officially. The region Khorasan has been ruled by those who today are known as Afghans, Greeks, Iranians, Mongols, Turks and a lot more . So its complicated enough to reference Geography and where he was Born and Died or Belong to Should not be of concern unless you have INFORIORITY COMPLEX. I am an Afghan and I speak both Persian, which is my mother tongue, and Pashto and nobody can rob my ancestry from me. Abul-Qasem Ferdowsi Tusi is a ( Farsi, Dari, Tajiki ) speaking Poet and he did not waste 30 Years of his Life collecting Ancient Tales so people could fight over it like kids but rather to read it and pass it to our children. If you can not do this you have the right to stay Silent or visit a Psychiatrist ! reference: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferdowsi Psychiatrist in Iran: Hamid Yousefi or someone else. Psychiatrist in Afghanistan: Dr.Jamshid Rasa or someone else. Psychiatrist in Canada and USA : Dr.Jordan Peterson or someone else.

Ferdowsi saved the Persian language. This book was written at a time when, after the Arab attack on the Sasanian Empire, Iranians were not allowed to speak Persian for 200 years, and if they spoke, the Arab-speaking rulers would kick them out. Iranians spoke very little Persian, and that's why the Arabs called them Ajam at that time.

It's a nice myth but you can't revive a language by a book. How many people do you think could read back then? People were still speaking Persian in private, Ferdowsi just took credit for it
@dionysus1394
@dionysus1394 4 ай бұрын
@@miladeskandari7he saved the language in a way that is not similar to what the person above is trying to perpetuate, but in a way still pivotal to Persian history. The Middle Persian, or Pahlavi language as it was spoken in the Sasanian Empire before it received an influx of Arabic loanwords after the Muslims conquests was preserved thanks to Ferdowsi.

@@miladeskandari7I regret to inform you though that Hebrew is an example of a language brought back from a book. It had died off sometime after the Roman-Jewish wars as a spoken language but during the Zionist movement of the 19th century had become modernized in incredibly adopted by Jewish individuals.

Have you read Shahnameh in Persian language? Is there a Dari version?
@Fiction_Beast
@Fiction_Beast 2 жыл бұрын
Yes i did read some of it in Persian but my knowledge is mostly based on the English version translated by Dick Davis. People say the language of Shahnameh is in fact closer to modern-day Dari spoken in Afghanistan than Farsi spoken in Iran. The reason is that Ferdowsi lived in easten part of Iran under the rule of Samanid in Bukhara (today Uzebkistan) and later Ghaznavid (modern day Afghanistan). The closer you were to Baghdad the more mixed the language was with Arabic.

@@Fiction_Beast Thanks for your answer. I have listened to some audio version of Shahnameh on KZfaq. I have not noticed any Dari. I thought you might have read it in Dari. Both languages are beautiful and we can mostly understand each other but they are not the same.

@@Fiction_Beast One should consider that these countries once belonged to Persian Empire, that’s quite normal that they still understand each other. Today 43 years after revulsion even Iranians who live abroad don’t speak the same way compared to the ones living in Iran. This I have noticed every time I’ve been there. Migration, separation, society needs, governmentś influence, media, social changes etc all influence language.

King Ferdowsi Wrote Shahnameh to keep Parsi and our language alive from those savage Arabs who brutally invaded Iran and killed everybody by force to change their religion from Zartosht which it was first religion who invite everybody to pray unique God, but its different from other religion from many ways) to islam. He was a KING for Persian because he kept our ceremonies or Traditional events who got forgotten alive until end of this world like : Mehregan , Sepandar mazgan( Love Day, So Persian Respect LOVE 5000BCE (Valentine Day :) copied from Persia etc...) Because he saw the Islam killing our Parsi tradition and direct us to Arab, but he saw that, and he doesn't have power to fight with muslims, so spend time to keep our Language and our Tradition Alive and strong. %100 of those countries who got conquered by MUSLIMs changed their language and their life same like Arabs, but ONLY PERSIAN kept their Language and their Tradition alive to tell those ARABs : PERSIA has long long story and civilization came from Persia. Cyrus The Great or KING of THE KING was the first king in entire world who put Crown on his head and Tiara on his wife's head. All of Persian philosophers were against of ISLAM and remained SUFI or ZARTOSHTI like : Mulana Rumi , Omar Khayyam ; Nezami Ganjavi , Ferdowsi , Hakim Farabi , Hakim Rudaki and etc... Shahname Story about Kaveh Ahangar and Zahakeh Mar Bedosh is fighting between Parsi and Arab, Parsi was Kaveh Hanagar and Zahak was ARAB and was eating our young people brains, so he was trying to say this Arabs in your country brain wash your Kidds and young people to Arab religion and Arab tradition which is nothing compare to Persian Heritage and Persian Tradition. Kaveh was real Parsi who came to destroy Islam from our Persia. We had the first religion and not deserve to have a last religion. He dreamed and imagined one day KAVEH going to come and Kik those muslims and islam away from Persia...
