By 1836, Fernando Sor had composed and published many studies for the guitar. He’d already written his Méthode pour la Guitare, which during his life was regarded well enough that an English translation surfaced in London. Now, near the end of his life, he turned again to composing a set of guitar studies. Op. 60 would be his last pedagogical work. It was the apotheosis of a life devoted to playing, teaching, and composing for the guitar.
