Cause Montezemolo once stated @ the launch event of the 458 that the 348 was scrap.... With all respect to Mr. Montezemolo, he was wrong. I own a 348 now for more than 3 years and to be very frank, it is my favorite car for Sunday morning drives. It is raw, honest and very communicative. I simply love it. And further, if you read old press articles on the 348, despite that it was not always the fastest car, it won most of the comparisons with Porsche, Lotus, etc of that era. And not to forget that customers in the early 90's had to wait more than 5 years for deliveries of their car. For me it is just a question of time when the classic car market will start to appreciate this wonderful piece of Italian car history. Cheers!

I completely agree with you, we're not alone! This and the 355 have long been championed as peak Ferrari V8 sound. The newer ones try so hard to smooth and refine the exhaust note. This and the 355 retain the perfect amount of natural v8 growl, almost like a crossplane

These, in my opinion, were the best years for Ferrari. They made fascinating and clever Italian sports cars that were more attainable to more people; no 1000 horse power million dollar hyper cars made today, but rather a perfectly balanced, humble v8 that was made to be DRIVEN. I feel they left that legacy behind shortly after Modena

I’ll never forget the 348 , I was born in 88’ , this was the first Ferrari I saw on the freeway , beautiful lines , it was so exotic, only the testarossa was a notch above but i never actually saw one driven …

Chris winter should be glad that the 348 was hated other wise the price for it would be over 300´000, instead of 30 - 50´000 dollars today so that we pour people could own a peace of italian art. What a sound, just love the 348, its like italian opera with a tubi exaust up their ass

Less is more. The entirely analog 348 is the biggest bang for the buck. The 355 has brass valve issues. the 355s electronic adjustable suspension goes out. the 355 spider's roof is one piece and costs $60k to replace. its now or never for the 348 - the shrewdest sports car purchase in the entire Ferrari market.

I bought my 348gts last year for 5,000,000yen. I have a Kidaspecial exhaust on it, but my oh my. I'm so glad I managed to get one while these were hated☺️

I have a Yellow 92 348 TB for 18 years now. I freekin LOVE that car! I still get excited to take it out for a good run. I have NEVER regretted buying it. In fact, I’ve got the dough to easily upgrade to a newer Ferrari but I’m scared that if I did, and for some reason wasn’t totally happy with the new acquisition, I’d be so pissed that I let it go.

There is a clear divide between these 90's and older Ferrari's vs the newer flappy paddle. I wouldn't touch any Ferrari without a manual gated sifter. That was one of the main appealing traits Ferrari had. While no Ferrari is considered reliable, the new ones with their added complicated computers make the old ones look like Toyota reliability.

You’re right about that. I’ve got a 348, and took a 430 F1 spider for a test drive a couple months ago. The car was so beautiful, red , perfect interior etc. When I sat down in it I was so excited I was thinking “ I’m going to buy this for sure”. Then I started to drive it, and the F1 transmission SUCKED! It was such a let down man. It was kind of clunky, rough, and just made unappealing sounds. I knew about 10 minutes in that I wouldn’t be buying this car, that I just would not enjoy this long term. I asked the salesman “so, is this typical of how these F1’s feel, like there’s nothing wrong with this right?” He said yup, they all drive like this. Although, granted, my 348 is a far less powerful and less modern Ferrari, the manual feels 10 times better and more rewarding to use.

Yeah. No improvments yet, owner like it as original as possible. But the brakes could be more powerfull, that would help. No need to change suspension etc, its fine as it is.

What year is it? I think they improved the factory suspension set up and geometry towards the end of its production life? I drove an early 1990 car and it was pretty messy handling wise!! Plenty of front end lift too at high speeds!!

Maintenance is not that bad, actually. Of course, it now is a classic car so you need to take car of it, but compared to later models the 348 can be worked on relatively easily and it’s new enough to have regular tires and fuel injection - which both are painful and expensive if you don’t have it.
