Paul Thomson agreed. Supercars were more revered because of their standout performances compared to everything else. Nowadays you can buy grocery getters with 500+ hp and 0-60 times under 4 seconds. Nothing standouts anymore, everything is fast.

The Xj220 is very beautiful car. The lines are very smooth. Signs of E-Type. The rims are distinctive. And in a car like this you would expect to find a V8 or V12. That it is only a V6 with those numbers of 3.8 sec 0 - 60 mph and 213 mph makes it remarkable over any car to date.

The most underrated Ferrari (and maybe the most underrated supercar) of all. What people don't remember about it: 109,1hp per litre, under 1300kg, and the very first car to do 0-60mph in under four seconds (3,7s) without a turbo. To me, those are enough reasons to love it unconditionally. Plus, it's absurdly beautiful! Just in case you didn't get it, it's my favorite Ferrari as well - and my favorite supercar ever.

@@anidiotinaracingcar4874 It really was. The Enzo can hit 60mph in 3,5 seconds, if I'm not mistake. But people (including Ferrari) were more focused on how much higher top speed it had than the F50 (202 vs 212mph) and the racing technology at the time (paddle shifters, the manettino with traction control modes, launch control, and so on). Besides the performance and the gorgeous looks, I love the F50 so much because it's "supercar unplugged", as Jeremy Clarkson said.

I have experienced both the f40 and the F50 , the 40 is quite an experience at once docile and brutal you can trickle along at forty , floor the throttle and you will add one hundred M P H on top of the forty in the blink of an eye , the thing itself is very basic almost like a kit car with none of the usual trimmings you would expect , just carbon fibre and aluminium but once on the move none of that matters it is a wonderful experience. The 50 is altogether a very different animal much the better finished , indeed quite beautiful on first appearance, normally aspirated with an engine from the same stable as the company's race cars which is bolted straight onto the chassis , the sound of which is spine tingling . Pound for pound I think the 50 is the better car to own it can be a convertible, a spider or a coupe its wonderful to drive even if it dose not posses quite the turbo boosted thrust of the 40 , that said the engine is flexible and quite brutal every bit as good , in its own way as the 40 and dispite the popular opinion a better driving experience.

The XJ is seriously undervalued. Extremely rare vehicle. Funny how they thought this type of engine configuration was insufficient when we now have the Ford GT doing the same thing. lol But for me, the ultimate of this collection is the F50. Alot of people have weird misconceptions of what a rare supercar can be. Especially when they start to compare it to their predecessors. Not in this case. I'll take the F50 over any other Ferrari. It is my 2nd highest dream car. 1st will have to go to the Mac Daddy. Alas, the prices of these suckers aren't going down anytime soon...

Aaron M I am not here to argue but the XJ is not really an awesome car. People dislike it. Yes it set a record but a little later the top speed of the Diablo reached it. It is not actually 220mph. If Jaguar is successful in super car business then they could have made super cars that will match the Aventador P1 LF and 918 today. After this failure they stop manufacturing super cars.

Mike Labonte - ya it’s closer to 300 pounds - We use kilos as the measurement here and owner told me about 400 pounds... said the measurement wrong while doing the take I guess. Love to see your videos given you seem to think someone isn’t an enthusiast if they have wrong facts or say something incorrectly... Quite a guy!

Even if I had the money, I couldn't care less about the "investment potential". I would always buy based on how it drives and makes you feel. The Jaguar XJ220 is gorgeous in that shade of green, and is highly underrated. I used to have 1/18th scale die cast models of all these cars. The Lamborghini Diablo Special Edition is my favorite. Thank you.

Fun video! The fact that Jeff was 100% focused on all that was fun and loveable about these cars is noteworthy. I too am a huge Lambo fan and the Countach was the subject of my worship from the moment I met it in the early eighties in the film Cannonball Run... that is until Performance Car magazine introduced me to the the SE30 Diablo (Jota version) in that purple in the early nineties! Like Jeff, when the Murcielago came along in the early naughties I honestly did liked what I saw but I did feel underwhelmed by the understated design; but it definitely grew on me and when Lamborghini tweaked it a little for the release of the LP640 I found that I absolutely loved it. - Check out that olive green one that was reviewed on Top Gear (It's on KZfaq). Now we've been living with the Aventador for a decade; for me it was love at first sight, it's my fave, I absolutely love it and now that it's due to be retired I'll be all but devastated to see it go.

Did you know that the headlights from the nissan were used in the Diablo? And the light have a nissan logo still on them? So, Lambo had to add a little lip of carbon fibre to cover them.

The SE30 is the best Diablo and possibly best Lambo ever created. It was the true race version of the Diablo. Way lighter weight to the tune of 400kg (880lbs)!!!!!!, and significant bump in power with aero design elements that worked. This SE30 is so raw and SERIOUSLY overlooked. No one talks about all the elements that set it far apart from the standard car. A TRUE limited special edition from the interior to exterior. These new over badged and under modified over standard “limited edition” cars are a shadow of this timeless car.

Its not their second rarest the 250 platform only made 36 cars, the 250lm was in that category with the gto, gto short wheelbase, lm, mm, gt/e, europa and the California, all in single digits of double digit production runs.

I like the 220, its design is absolutely timeless. It's stunning, it looks great. I really think its look holds up today it still looks great. Funny thing is that ive never seen 1 w/o the factory wheels. Not to detract from the value of its factory rims however i feel that with the right set of wheels it would change the look of the vehicle for the best for sure

No, Jag had a V12 used in another application but it wouldn't provide the top speed, weight restrictions and emissions required to satisfy the job. The engine used is the IMSA and Rally V6 twin turbo. A monster!
