Travelled across from Dublin to holyhead many many times with my dad in the 80s. Great memories. Always remember the smell of the sea, and the noise of the engines. The atmosphere on board (especially in the bar!) was fantastic. Days long gone unfortunately.

The B&I Bar could have been a real rip off i remember asking for a Pint, which would have been less that 50 Pence back then even on the Ferry, giving a five pound note, that was in the mid seventies and the Barmen just threw the change a Pound into my hand saying with a wink, "There you go Son" fisting a load of small coins into my hand , plus of course no Till Receipt, the Bar was three deep as it seemed all of Ireland was on the boat, just as if everyone was leaving Ireland to work, across in Blighty, grim times back then, i eventually did get the senior Barman / Manager and explained what had happened, but he wasn't having any of it ... and was backing up his work mate ... thinking as long as their till's tallied everything was O.K. and chilled, the lads working as the Barmen were, more that 'Quid's' in ... plus on the Take, of course, it was just a scam..... ripping off those poor souls for a pastime... those Barmen MUST have made a Killing , some Bad Hombres i suppose, ... that was One really expensive Pint....Lol...

T'was three❤.. dodgy sound on the recording..😂😂😂 much like a crackely vinyl record😊 not as bad as the dodgy music at the end😊😅😂😂

thanks very much for uploading, brings back so many great memories from the late 70s and early 80s, it really was exciting as a child to make that car ferry journey.

I crossed maybe 10 crossings to Holyhead and just one to Liverpool . That took about 7hrs . Such a great time capsule of a film .

We used to make the crossing every year/school holidays in the 1970s with our parents on route back to Mayo for our holidays - fond memorirs

Years and years ago after a long road journey, my brother and I boarded a fine new car ferry at Liverpool docks, heading for Dublin, we decided to have a meal in the main restaurant before catching a few hour's sleep to set us up for our car journey back west next morning. We received the best service from a Dublin waiter and had a great dinner, shortly after the water came back to our table and asked if we would like to order a dessert or coffee, my brother explained that he had already had dessert with his dinner, for his dinner he had pork chops with rings of pineapple, I want not sure if my brother was joking or being serious, it took me a long time to stop laughing and it still brings a smile to my face every time i think about this happening. My brother is one of those people who is very funny in a straight face manner

Is the the Dublin to Liverpool Ferry that went out in Hurricane Charlie 1987 I heard there were grown men on their hands and knees crying with the fear, everybody survived, but it was rough

You will never believe this but I actually worked with a guy who's claim to fame was that he was on the Holyhead ferry when hurricane Charly went down, well that and himself and a load of locals went over to live aid in Wembley stadium back in the day 😂
