As you know by now, we have experienced a handful of ferry rides throughout our travels. This one stands out above all the rest. We started this day knowing we were going to take a two hour ferry from Helsinki, Finland into Tallinn, Estonia. Little did we know, this boat would be our first cruise experience! Complete with restaurants, clothing stores and live entertainment. It was amazing and so much more than we ever expected.

These Helsinki-Tallinn ships are used for both fun and commuting, a lot of Estonians work/live in Finland. The biggest and most fancy Baltic ferries sail between Helsinki and Stockholm, one seen here 5:07. A two-night trip to Stockholm and back on the big ferry used to be the highlight of the summer when I was a kid :)

Helsinki is the busiest passenger terminal in Europe. And those ferries are like small Caribbian cruise ships, with a car deck which caribbian cruise ships do not have. Instead they have more cabins. Travelling to Estonia and Sweden via ferry is very common. I have taken those ferries atleast 50 times.

Yes, you can get fairly cheap tickets, because everything else costs. Buffet is popular and shopping is tax free,, so that's a plus. There's cruises for traveling and commuting and longer ones for festivities and leisure time, which explains the number of restaurants etc. and the saying "What happens on a ship, stays on the ship".

When my ex and I visited Helsinki to go to museums, we didn't book a hotel room. Instead, we went on an overnight cruise to Tallinn. The tickets were WAY cheaper than any hotel room in Helsinki. We didn't get to actually leave the ship, but it was a cheap alternative, and it was more fun than a hotel. Obviously cruise ships are like mobile hotels, so everything onboard is pretty expensive. Just a tip. :) P.S. It's a SHIP, not a BOAT.

We have a blast and feel so fortunate to be able to see a new city or country almost every week. A big part of our travels is not often shown on camera. Research, planning and editing videos is unfortunately how we have to spend 80% of our time so that our other 20% can be filmed to the best of our ability to share our travels. The work never stops but we wouldn't change what we do for anything. Thanks for watching!

We struggle with this from time to time as well. Sometimes we stop for a month or so and get caught up on editing and planning. Although we move around a lot, our routine in a new place is surprisingly the same. Stay in a place for 5-14 days. Coffee in the morning. Work. Eat some breakfast. Work some more. Explore for dinner or cook the same dishes at our Airbnb we would make at home. Research and plan for 1 day of filming. Pack up and do it all over again. Our plans are loose but we do know where we will be as far as 6 months out and then have a good idea for the entire year. This life style is not for everyone but much less hectic and on the edge as it may seem. 😄

I travelled from Helsinki to Tallinn about July 9th also by Viking Line. There is 13 departures in both directions every day between Finland and Estonia, most of them between Helsinki/Helsingfors and Tallinn. Then I headed towards Tartu... Was speeding in a crossroads... 58 kpm instead of 50... I was looking very carefully for a camera... But I didn't see any, so I didn't really brake (more)... Then "something" flashed at the left side (!!!) of me... I don't really know where the camera was hidden, as there seemed to be only a pole/pilar of stainless steel... I was really surprised, because I thought I have learned what to look after... It's a little bit annoying when a highway (!) is passing, let's say, a couple of houses and you have to go from 90 kpm to 50 every now and then. The cost of the fee that came with the post? 20 euro to pay! I sent them 25! In practice it doesn't really matter if you drive a little bit too fast. Maybe it was the second time in 52 years that I was caught for speeding. Also once in Russia, or maybe I was only checked. Once in Ukraine I was stopped for driving too fast, but the policeman was nice and didn't charge me. If I remember right, I didn't really understand that the speed limit was 50 kpm at that point. But my speed was not that high anyway. This happened in 2008.

We did notice many people had their spot on the ship and they knew exactly what they were doing and how to have the best time on the journey. Since the ferry is only 2 hours, I can see why people take day trips or go for the weekend. Enjoyable travel and cool cities in both directions.

Would be really nice to hear from foreigners is there really any reason to travel to Finland? Everything is top expensive so do you actually get anything? Are there anything to experience. To a Finn it feels like we are just small population with small cities, not a lot for anyone to come and see from far away. Sure if you enjoy that there are not so many people and its quite quiet you will enjoy. Also the nature where you can go just by your self is something if you value that. Great question. In our previous video, we enjoyed the afternoon at a public sauna and then tried reindeer at a popular local restaurant. Both things we had never tried before and was definitely worth the cost and time to visit. For us, it is the culture we like to experience anywhere we go. Food, language, architecture and the differences with how people live their lives are very interesting to us and we learn something new every day. You are not the first to wonder why visitors would think their hometown is interesting. The mundane to one is very interesting and new to others. Thanks for watching and leaving your thoughts!

Most likely a bad beans-to-cup espresso machine. Unfortunate that those effin' things have replaced the humble drip systems, given that instead of using properly roasted arabica of unkown origin and age (even if not ever fresh), you get a burnt to shit robusta & arabica blend, turned into a questionable "espresso" as a base for making "coffee based drinks". It's a real shame. In Finland we have the best "bad" coffee, and it's being replaced with absolute garbage.

People suffering from hangovers or loud young adult groups lugging in cheap alcohol and it's crowded everywhere and everything they sell on the ship is way way way overpriced low quality stuff. Don't take me wrong, I still do enjoy one of those cruises every now and then myself. Gotta admit there's a slight difference whether you're taking a few hour trip between Helsinki and Tallinn or a 24 hour trip between Helsinki and Stockholm.
