hi tom listen to your father he has a wealth of knowledge , it never pay to rush into a job before the conditions are right as this could double or treble the amount of work, also he is right you should read all manuals before using equipment, keep the vids coming I do enjoy them.

Top tip for you Tom. I used to keep all telehandler attachments on pallets when I wasn't using them, so I could move them with the forks.

When it comes to welding, everyone is rubbish in till they;ve put 20-30hrs in at least, if you got some scrap iron or steel on the farm, keep practising! Just remember to grind and clean the area, apply the weld and grind again

Perhaps check the Telehandler manual, and look in the section entitled fitting attachments, where it will state "Always fit the locking pin" 11.02

Your dad loves the weight calculations! It's all about the tons. I think it's awesome how important calculating those things are when you're dealing with hundreds of acres, and the products to farm them, and distribution, it wouldn't take much of an error to really screw up the situation and loose money/time on a pretty big scale. Great work!

Yea but he seems convinced that you have to fill the new spreader. Seems to me like ye might be better off with one person spreading and another tending with the manito. That way could travel with a max of 750kg in the spreader at any stage.

What I have learned over the past couple of months that many of the UK farmers don't like welding or doing much mechanical work on there machinery. While you guys down south are still suffering from the flooding us up in the Highlands and Islands are suffering from getting 2 to 5 inches of rainbeaxg night over a couple of days, just as we think the ground is getting nice and dry ready to work. Maybe this year we will be lucky and get started before the middle of April

Your so lucky with spring there, I live at 9000 ft in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, spring is in early June or late May. Still is it could snow 2 feet on June 21, it's happened a couple of times.

What form of nitrogen fertiliser are you using? Seeing the way your fields are like, you might be better of using an urea-based fertiliser in the end of February or the start of March on frozen soil. the urea-based fertiliser will not be washed out of the ground, while a nitrate-based one will.

check the tire pressure on the case, i have heard that new tractors are often shipped at very higher pressure, and that the dealers that do the pd often forget to check.
