Some auditors have experienced the abuse of the justice system first hand many have not. Your " most" is a distortion. . They have been held accountable for their actions and demand that those within police ranks are too. I worked with criminal youth and saw many officers mirror their behaviour. The first one clearly has no idea about Downing Street. There are members or the public outside number 10 filming all the time but that's because they've been let through the security fence and been allowed to go there, usually to drop off a petition. Can you film freely by the gate/fence to Downing Street? Yes, people are there everyday doing it. It seems to me, from the few videos that I have seen, that Kobe is trying to go out of his way to be extra polite and amenable, but only up to the point where they demand his ID when he isn't obliged to. In that way it documents more clearly that they have exceeded their authority. In another video, where he gets thrown to the ground, you can see he does step back when they start the search. Now I will readily agree they used unnecessary force - but just that step backwards, and pulling his hand back, compromises the claim that he "did nothing wrong". Sure... he did nothing wrong - but he didn't do nothing... he did something. Imagine how much worse their aggression would have looked if he had literally "done nothing" - simply stopped moving like possum. So I think, from an activism and documentary point of view, it's a good idea to be too polite.

Most police officers join up under the assumption that more or less everyone that they encounter, doesn't know there rights, or can be coerced out of relying on them. The frustration of all the officers In this video, in having a Kolee to deal with, highlights that well! Frankly police officers are nearly correct in the assumption, as knowing your rights is not taught in UK school's, collages, etc. You'd have to go to Uni and study law, to get even a basic understanding of them, less you'd self educated yourself about what they are, or you happen to be a … police officer. You'd probably hear most scraps of information, from some other poor unfortunate that had a run-in with the police, and got burned, ( Or not, if they'd got a good solicitor ) than any other way. People only want to know there rights, when sitting in an interview room when they badly need to know what they are. In general, people assume ( Wrongly ) that an officer knows best when interacting with one up to that point, officers will take full advantage of trampling all over any and all rights, given half a chance before interview. It's not helped by more experienced officers and there superiors either, as they've been abusing rights for years, knowing the pubic can't be arsed to do much about the fact and don't have any power to do so, even if they did. Newbie officers simply follow suit, all of them knowing, Body worn footage can handily "disappear" and that the IOPC is a very funny joke to anyone that doesn't actually have to use it. Higher up the chain, MP's don't aid the situation, as lately, they're actively trying to rid the public of many rights they aren't aware of anyway and no MP wants a well informed public, looking into what rights they may be about to lose. Under that premise, officers will abuse those that aren't aware of there rights ( Especially those that don't film interaction's with them ) and are more or less expected to do so. Policing culture in the UK relies on it, till all the above change's, nothing much will change.

The short second cop looked so worried, any little thing Kole said he tried to connect to some sort of potential terrorist activity rather than hearing what he was trying to say. I'm amazed that not only did he say if you don't give us your details you'll be arrested but also that he seems to genuinely believe that doing that is perfectly legal. The arrogance and abuse of power is staggering. That threat alone is actually a criminal offence. Section 23 of the police reform act I think.

That copper was contradicting himself constantly. You should have remimded him that you're not obliged to prove your innocence when you're doing absolutely nothing wrong.

You are trying to find an ulterior motive and nothing less, is his word not sufficient then where is your proof he is doing something wrong? your feelings are not the law and you are there to uphold the law. There is no specific legislation and if you claim to be getting around the legislation then you are acting unlawfully and if you detain him it is unlawful as you yourself are breaching the law and its not a police building its a public building and your perceived risks are that, perceived and hypothetical with no evidence to substantiate it.

He's not feeling comfortable bless him You don't need to talk to him he is enjoying it they get off on this behaviour Their need for id is like a drug to them all they want is to check on your name and hopefully have something on you and lock you up. This is abuse of power Why I'd you not walk away he couldn't answer you about being detained Call his bluff he had nothing
