i so loved Krampus (Perchtenlauf) as child. it was soooo cool. Basicly adults dress up as demons and hunt and whip children with branches, expect to bleed a little. The really bad ones were taken and "abducted" (taken along the ride and could be collected later by the parents) when i was little, 4,5,6 years old i cried and was so fckn afraid. at 7,8,9 i started outstmaring the adults, hiding paper "armor" underneath my clothing that actually protected very well against the whips and laighed my ass off as they broke their branches hitting me with no effect. anf 10,11,12,13,14 i loved going offensive and throw snowballs at them, insult and tease em. Its a great childhoof experience of overcoming your inner demons and fear. at 16 i started going with the demons to hunt the children and give the lesson of overcoming pain and conquering yourself to the next generation. Btw. to this very day, aged 35 i still have an instinctive fear of cowbells that likely started in my early childhood cause those demons always wear those for the streetfair Also...yeah you may get scratches but...hey if you go boxing you may get way worse and people have fun

That Boys father actually beat him up regularly and that's one of the reasons he became what he was later on in the first place... so... I don't know if Krampus would've made a difference^^

Krampus is not a thing in whole germany. It is more located in the south of germany - Bavaria. Austria, Croatia, Hungary, Slovenia, Slovakia and Northen Italy, too. In Middle and Northern Germany he is not known. Greetings from (Middle) Germany

I think Feuerschwanz did some creative work with Krampus. Is even one member of the band from Austria? But I think it's ok to be creativ with tradition or it will loose any connection with modern times.

Feuerschwanz tends to "Americanize" their songs. They don't want to be authentic and call themselves “medieval folk comedy”. You have to like it or you have to ignore them.
