Now here's a band who are just plain good fun, and are quite good at taking other band's tunes and improving them. There's been Ding!, Warriors of the World (no mean feat to do a Manowar song better than Manowar) and now this one. More axe-waving, flagon-swilling, shield-banging Viking Metal enjoyment. A must for the playlist. My Score: Very Good 4*

And yes this is a great cover version of an amazing song about danish (northern Germany), and Norwegian and Swedish vikings. Since Denmark was the cradle of Viking's and is a Germanic tribe, FEUERSCHWANZ have just as much Viking blood as we have here in Denmark... so prost to my German brothers.

Yesterday morning, I listened to half of the song before I went to work and thought it was great. Then, yesterday afternoon after work, I listened to it fully, and it is fire. I love how heavy the music gets in the middle to the end of this song. This is one of the heavier songs that I have heard you all create, and I love it. This is one of my favorite new songs you guys have done. I love your guys' music, and I can't wait to see more awesome music and songs you guys create. Thank you for making this epic song even better. I will be listening to this song over and over again over the next week plus.

The music is obviously amazing, but I also want to shout out the fact that the weapons and armor of the fighting vikings seems pretty close to historically accurate. Definitely more accurate than most other depictions of vikings

Awesome how you put in effort to make this cover distinct. The general tune remains, but the rhythm sounds distinct and the vocals are quite different from Gavin's original one. Ton of people just made lazy covers (and didn't even credit Gav); and then you guys do something awesome as usual.

I’m convinced Valhalla Calling is the Viking equivalent of Bad Apple: a song inspired by a game that takes on a life of its own and gets covered by everyone (and finding a bad version is as entertaining as it is difficult).

I would have preferred keeping the slow tempo of the original or at least closer to it. Otherwise the cover works really well, the great quality we've come to expect from these masters of their craft. Can't wait for next week's concert!
