This is not only a great cover but also a great colab of Feuerschwanz, Saltatio Mortis and Ad Infinitum. Feuerschwanz plays Medieval Metal actually and usually their lyrics are in German. The strange instrument is a hurdy gurdy. It's a stringed instrument like a violin but with a rosined wheel instead of a bow to cause vibration in the strings. The keys are used to shorten the strings for different notes. Melissa Bonny is leadsinger in her own band (Ad Infinitum, check out "Marching on Versailles") and has been featured in another Feuerschwanz cover song ("Ding" originally by German dancehall/reggae band Seeed) where she performs some great harsh vocals. She is from Switzerland as is Thomas Winkler (the guy in green armor). Thomas aka Angus McFife was leadsinger for Gloryhammer. Finally there is Jörg Roth (with the side cut) aka Alea der Bescheidene from German Medieval Rock Band Saltatio Mortis. Feuerschwanz songs you could check out: "Metfest", "Die Hörner Hoch", "Schubsetanz" (normal or Black Metal version), "Meister der Minne", "Ultima Nocte", Memento Mori", "Skaldenmet" or some of their other great covers like "Ding" originally by Seeed, "Hier kommt Alex" originally by Die Toten Hosen or their cover of Ed Sheerans "I see Fire" (from their virtual live concert featuring Angus McFife (Thomas Winkler)). A really new band made of members from Feuerschwanz, Ad Infinitum and Amaranthe is The Dark Side Of The Moon. They only released two songs so far but are working on an album currently. They emerged as a result of a bet between Melissa Bonny and Feuerschwanz guitarist Hans Platz about which song would hit one million views on KZfaq first, "Marching on Versailles" or "Ding". Hans won the bet and Melissa had to do a cover song with him. They asked Melissas partner Morten Løwe Sørensen from Amaranthe to play the drums and Jenny Diehl aka Mieze Myu from Feuerschwanz to play harp and recorded a cover of the song "Jenny of Oldstones" from Game of Thrones (S8E3). Recently they released their second track which is a Metal cover of Enyas "May It Be" from the Lord of the Rings soundtrack. The plan for the album is to create (Metal)covers of well known songs from TV-series, Filmsoundtracks or video Games but also original songs.

Others have said it but you REALLY should check out Feuerschwanz' cover of Ding (originally by Seeed). If you like Feuerschwanz (in German) and Melissa Bonnie you're going to LIVE that one!

I just love the last part where Melissa start with the high notes, then the Feuerschwans singer goes even higher and then Thomas Winkler is like, "hold my beer". You should check out more Feuerschwans but also all the guests bands. Melissa has done lots of work but she now has her own band Ad Infinitum (Marching on Versailles, unstoppable or Afterlife are good ones to start with) and a side project Dark Side of The Moon, that she has with the dude in the top hat and the hurdy-gurdy playing woman in this video and the drummer from Amaranthe, they make covers from nerd media, (so far they done Jenny of Goldstone from GoT and May it be from LotR) and if you want more of Thomas Winkler you can check out Gloryhammer (if you like theatrics you love them) he has left the band now thou. The last guest singer is Alea (the dude with the epic beard) from Saltatio Mortis, another band you can check out. My Mother Told me is fantastic, and they just released Dragonborn Comes (from the videogame Skyrim)

All of their songs are in German except for the covers. Check out Memento Mori, Untot im Drachenboot, Ultima Nocte, Meister der Minne, or Das Elfte Gabot. All of them are fantastic songs and every single one of them feature the costumes and set pieces. You can't go wrong with any of them. These guys (and ladies) sure have fun doing this. They use a lot of traditional instruments (Violin, Hurdy-Gurdy. Bagpipes, etc....) along with the Rock instrumentation. They are a breath of fresh air for sure.

You really need to check out more Feuerschwanz , their new album is my favourite album of 2021.. not a single dud song on the album.. "Memento Mori" is simply sublime! Their songs are usually in German, but they do amazing covers, no matter what language it is. Other outstanding tracks: Ding, Meister Der Minne, Das Elfde Gebot, I see Fire, Metfest, Malleus Maleficarum, Hier kommt Alex, Schubsetanz (original & Black metal version), Untot im Drachenboot, Ultima Nocte, Drogstea Din Tei & Die Hörner hoch. The spinny instrument is called a Hurdy Gurdy (and no, I am not lying). It's a medieval instrument that has a contact wheel that acts like a bow on a violin or viola, which you can vary the intensity of the music by spinning at different speeds, and has a keyed area that touches the strings like a finger on violin strings. It's amazingly complex yet simple :)

That instrument with the turning handle is a hurdy-gurdey. It usually sounds like a cross between a violin and bagpipes. Two of the singers are from Feuershwanz and the other three are guest artists from other bands. "She's singing super high".....then two of the guys scream even higher. If I was on top of that high wall like Melissa and Ben, I'd be screaming too! The song was a Manowar cover, but it (and the video) is fairly typical of Feuerschwanz, except they usually sing in German. The band Saltatio Mortis are similar - their main singer Alea , the one with blond hair shorn at the sides, was ill for the video and his part was filmed later in a different castle, which is why he isn't in any of the group scenes. Feuerschwanz is an amazing band, Momento Mori is great even though I don't understand German, their version of Ding is really fun too. Saltatio Mortis is another favorite of mine, their colab with Electric Callboy on Hypa Hypa is where I first heard them and I delved into them even more, they have some great songs like "My mother Told Me' and "Loki", they have also recently released song songs from Elder Scrolls with "Pray to the Hunter" kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fq-Ue8eoxJ7dep8.html. This was a great reaction by the way, although David Heretic did not like Thomas's high note, I did I thought it was a great addition to the whole song, which is an epic performance from all of them.
