Read below for details! This is the annual and always extremely memorable 'Snowdonian' special that covers the entire length of both railways, around 80 miles of narrow gauge steam in around nine hours. Hauled by Linda and Blanche (piloted by Lilla to Minffordd) on the Ffestiniog and by double-Fairlies James Spooner and Merddyn Emrys on the Welsh Highland (piloted by Lyd from Waunfawr on the return). Memorable - for the motive power, the locomotive performances, the itinerary, the weather, the landscape and the overall spectacle of great achievement that shines through in the operation and infrastructure of both railways. A day without rain helps enormously - and the lack of wind and plentiful sunshine (especially at the coastal ends of the railways) was an added bonus.

(Please note there are two iphone camera sequences in the video, featuring the service train hauled by Garratt 87 and Lyd - they were moments when the train caught me out and the phone camera's instant availability was a necessary second best option).
