Hi Gamers!
Here it is! Again! How to clear the first Crystal Tower Alliance Raid in FFXIV, The Labyrinth of the Ancients, in less than 3 minutes!
I apologise for the re-upload, but I had the honour of having a Journalism Professor in Uni who instilled in me how important it was to 'hate to be wrong' in writing. I couldn't let it stand as it was.

I'm so sorry for the first upload! Despite repeated self-editing, I completely missed an issue that would have bothered me day after day, hour after hour, if I did not correct it. So, now I finally commit this guide to the ages. I hope it helps you clear Labyrinth of the Ancients, helps you feel more comfortable potentially getting it in Alliance Roulette, or helps you tangentially avoid an awkward conversation with a new player friend who insists that anything under level 60 doesn't have mechanics. 🤣 Thank you for your support, Gamers!

Useful guide thanks. As a noob who somehow ended up playing a tank im mildly alarmed to have to tank a raid as part of the story

You're very welcome!💜 It can be intimidating, but being a tank is actually not too hard for these raids. You will likely only need to MT (main tank) when your alliance gets separated into parties. Otherwise it will probably be a higher-geared tank who takes the enmity for the big fights. Just make sure you're standing near to them, so that the boss doesn't flip around and face the party if enmity changes. When I was just starting out, this would have been the exact kind of guide that I needed; straightforward, easy to watch, and up-to-date, stripping out all the bloat on guides/walkthroughs from years and years ago when the raid was still current and the mechanics mattered. During ARR times this basically will wipe the party if even just a few skellies make it to the dragon. Alliance raids were very harsh back in those times. I remembered having a PLD with 3800 HP and me as WHM have like 1900 HP with all vit stat pumped instead of mind just for survival's sake.

I usually have no issues with multiplayer content in MMOs. I prefer it when they encourage players to mix into groups for dungeons and stuff to advance the story. What I don’t enjoy is having 24 man raids forced on me just to continue to expansions I’ve paid for. I’ve always hated raid type things in MMOs. I get some people enjoy it but it isn’t for me, so having like 3 hours worth of it forced on me just to progress to get Dark Knight was not fun. MMOs are supposed to have something for everyone. The problems arise when they start forcing players to do everything just to progress.

I'm sorry you're not finding this part of the game enjoyable. The strange thing is, making these raids mandatory for the main story only *just* happened a couple of years ago. For the majority of the 10 years I've played, they were completely optional. I understand they wanted to link them to the story further on, but putting them up as a barrier isn't a universally great idea.

@@gamer_debbie I finished it a while back. I was a tank so my opinion of it was probably soured by having 20 minute wait times followed by people dropping out last minute.

@@hididdlyhodiddly6019 Ah, I'm sorry. 💜Tank wait times for alliance raids can be longer than usual, because there are only 3 tanks per 24 people. If you're on a lower-population DC (Like Dynamis) you can always try DC travel to a higher population DC. It's free and easy to do.

Hey everyone, I really need some input to set my mind straight here. Am I the only one who thinks all of this "Era of Light" stuff should be optional content and not a requirement to progress in the main story? I mean, in my experience right now I am running around talking to the same people over and over again, not discovering new parts of the game nor progressing with my character, gaining money or new skills. I am queing for dungeons and raids for hours on end, which i don´t even want to do and being locked out of the main story progression ´cause i have to finish side quest line A and B before the next main quest is obtainable. It´s frustraiting and unnerving to say the least (more than 60 QUESTS and NO noticable progression) ... I am just having such a bad experience right now ... Am I doing it wrong? Am I missing something? I enjoyed ARR so far, but this part is really putting my pacience to the test ... Man, I just want to go on exploring this otherwise great game, but ffs O.o Had anyone else feelings and experiences like this as a new player or is it just me?

Hi! I'm sorry you're having this experience. My experience was quite different, as I started in ARR, so I didn't have anything else to look forward to. I know it's much worse today when everyone talks about how much better the game gets, but you're stuck behind so many years of content before you can get there! And back then, none of those quests were required... they were optional. It was only comparatively recently they were added to the MSQ. If it's any consolation, what you're playing through right now is generally considered the hardest part of the game. By the time you get out of ARR and into Heavensward, they start to improve the pacing significantly. I strongly believe they will find a way to make these quests optional again in the future, but we haven't heard anything about it yet. We are not far away from an expansion either, and we'll hear more about their plans for that in July. Just know that you're not alone in your frustration, and there is a massive reward in front of you if you can get through it. FFXIV is a beautiful game, and worth it - but we all understand how tedious it is right now. 💜

I fathom that the whole era quest stuff was content filler from ARR original release to hold players till Heavensward was released. New story to go out and see as new patches were released. So reason we have to do it is to not miss out on that filler story. Ive spent 2 nights already sloggin though it, still got another to go It seems, im at this raid atm.

I kind of wish this alliance raid was a little harder, SB is really the peak of alliance raids for me. Also, don't burn yourself out with lots of upload, take your time, enjoy it, i kind of like this 2-3 minutes simple explanation format of a dungeon/raid.

Oh, are you on Dynamis DC? It can be a bit of a wait there. But it's free (and easy) to visit another DC to get it done quickly if you'd like! Just right click on your character on the log-in screen and select 'visit another data centre'. I hope that helps! 💜

Thanks for the guide, but I think its pretty stupid that you have HAVE to do raids in order to progress the main story, Not everyone is interested in raiding.

Sprout here, and also not a huge raider myself, but being forced to do all the content, dungeons, trials, raids, I think its a good thing. Makes you better yourself, learn things. Especially when you roll a tank and have no clue what your doing lmao.
