One day when mike was playing, he noticed someone in our FC mention going to a nightclub, and that got him interested. Thankfully the lovely folks over at Black Sapphire, invited us to the grand reopening of their nightclub in game and stepping a bit into the world of RP.
The experience was something special.

But give wow players this kind of freedom? Nah gamers dont know what they want only over paid devs and cock game directors know whats best for a game and know what the players TRUELY want..... which is dailies, world quests, infinite rep grinds, nothing being account wide so you have to grind it on every alt. The DJs did a frantic job. To think I was watching this all on my couch at home on my big screen TV. It was so fun and because everything went without a seeming hitch. I flew over the car and landed on my face, cheekbones and gum bones and teeth shattered into pieces. Had to undergo reconstructive surgery for two years, and if I didn’t have ff14 I KNOW I would have finished the job. The people in that game, the friends I made and the story’s fundamental concepts of hope and perseverance really struck a cord with me and gave me the tools to keep going. This was 7 years ago. I am sure they see it but their focus are Raids. Wow is a Game for Raider. Lets look at FF with 13 Hard Raid Bosses vs BFA with like 36. Huge difference. The FF Team wants a RPG and there for out of the 40+ Raid Bosses in SHB only 1/3 gets developed for Core Raider. I like it aß I am a RPG Player and not a Raid or Die type of Player.

@@kegosan7622 tbh even if the endgame raiding isn't the main focus for 14 players, the amount of encounter time is somewhat even with WoW's encounter time even though there's less bosses. Imagine WoW having such a lock on us that actually having fun in a game without min/maxing and changing specs and classes every day is such a foreign concept.
@sere971
@sere971 2 жыл бұрын
this is a different type of fun tbh, and it's more community-based than anything-- but it's enabled by the systems Square Enix put in place (housing, interior design, etc.) way moreso than would be possible in WoW, where you can't really get that sort of vibe... anywhere. The RP community exists in WoW too, but it's either ERP or it's very serious sorts of RP. Nightclubs are moreso about hanging out rather than even being in-character for a lot of it. With that said, if you don't enjoy the only good part of WoW, which is the combat and the endgame raiding/dungeon systems... then you probably should quit. I just came back to WoW after putting around 500 hours into FF14 over the past few months because the dungeons and raids are just *boring* in comparison, and the combat/classes are all janky as fuck too. Anyone who can enjoy those parts of MMOs more in FF14 than they do in WoW should just quit without looking back and go play it, because it's the superior game overall made by the superior company.

My FC runs a nightclub that hits max every week, and what I would suggest to players nervous about going is: it's ok! Be nervous! Bring a friend or two if it helps! Many of these venues are the exact same as a real life club, with the added bonus of it being in a game where you don't have to worry about being physically uncomfortable. It took 1-2 visits for me to be really comfortable with going to an ingame venue, and now sometimes all I do is walk into places alone, people watch, and strike up conversations with random people.

Whaaaaaat??? Thats a thing?! I love interior design but I am very noob to FF. I play lots of sims and house flipper. Having that as a "job" in a MMO/social game really peaks my ears in interest!!! Maybe I should start FF more :D Im not into the story of the game sadly and MSQ kinda put me off playing, but I loooove designing and the housing stuff and outfits and ugh; so much crafty and social stuff. Bard is lovely to just try learn to play some music with, and I find the PvE ok too. ^^ Its awesome how games contain so much nowadays!

This is why I think FFXIV is the most 'MMO' an MMORPG has ever been. The level of 'normal life' that exists in FFXIV is ridiculous. People use FFXIV as their... social life. They log in, they drink without getting drunk, they chat, they meet people, they show off their outfits, and so on. Eorzea is just a life away from life for a lot of people. And it's truly special.

@@Catjamfan I'm actually not offended. I just don't get the point of coming in here and trying to bash others. It doesn't benefit anyone, and it doesn't serve any purpose. So I was asking him a simple question: What was the point of his comment? What was his end-goal? What did he want to achieve? Because it's not clear from his comment. Now had he come in and said 'ya, I get that same feeling out of GTA. It's great isn't it?', different story - I would've given that a thumbs up. But he came in here insulting the game that the video was about. Which is a pretty crappy thing to do. His words were chosen to attack, not to share in the feeling or to inform or anything else.

whats really cool is that there's not just these nightclub RPs (though they are extremely popular), there have been multiple theatre troupes that put on full plays on a stage, using emotes, items, and skills to actually perform. like one of them was the FF9 play "I want to be your canary" and you can find that on youtube still.

And I rped on Moonguard US, it had a reputation. But I'm so glad you got to see what it was that I had so many years of fun experiencing with my friends when we roleplayed. It's all about the story and what story you want to tell. The people that host awesome events and locations for others to spend time and be in character. There's so much more and it's so fun! Imagine being able to customize garrisons in wow.. from the paintings, to the carpets, to the lights and chairs, building skins, garrison location. So much potential but their goal was rushed expansion with no content planned so we can do a yearly expansion release for quicker box sales and less time between player spikes from fresh expansion since everyone burns out in 2ish months. And because everyone shit on WoD and garrisons and blamed garrisons for the expansion sucking (it was lack of content NOT the garrisons that killed WoD) they wont ever even attempt player housing again
@cas6382
@cas6382 2 жыл бұрын
The idea of garrisons was good but it was the implementation that was terrible. Blizzard shouldn't have put in everything you could ever want or need while printing mass amounts of free gold and weekly raid loot just for standing around by yourself. Garrisons should have been customizable player housing that was just for fun and minor convenience.

I'm a long time RP'r. 14 years starting in Second Life but also WoW and Conan Exiles. FFXIV has been my main game for about the past year for RP and I gotta say it's a the best RP community I've run into. People who think all the girls are guys too are just flat out wrong. We have a discord server for the RP'rs on our server and I hang out in voice chat all the time and I've gotten over being consistnently shocked at how many female PCs are are female players and even how many male PCs are Female players. People just want a good story, and RP allows you to be the hero any good story that you can make work within the games lore. I could always share some of the amazing story arcs I've been a part of myself if it was wanted.

I have had so much fun at the nightclubs in FFXIV. I love the ones with Twitch Dj's doing live sets. Their character in the dj booth and all. Super fun. I am really looking forward to cross data center travel so I can take my main character to the really active nightclubs that are not on my data center. Another thing I found fun were the live Bard bands. There are some really talented folks out there. One ffxiv nightclub I went to, the bard band was taking requests. It was a blast. I think that this activity has really helped bring people together during a time when we were all quite isolated. It really helped to have a sense of still going out and partying while everything was closed down. Has anyone invited Preach to a wedding yet? Those are quite awesome too. and you get a free wedding as an anniversary every year as well.

I just found this video in a good search and I have to say, this is just so pure. I've been RPing in this game for 6 years, and I'm totally used to all the stereotypes and rumors that non-RPers believe about RPers. So it's awesome that you gave an RP event a chance and enjoyed it and were able to clear up some common misconceptions about RP. It's not all about ERP. In fact, most of it isn't about ERP. Most of us regard this as a form of creative writing, but a highly social one. We're developing our characters and telling stories about them, and we're all doing it collaboratively. And yeah, some of us know how to throw a damn good party, too. ;)
