I had troubles getting a kill that didnt last more than 5 min so i had to take several fights to get it right. Thanks to that i managed to capture both phases full songs with a nice transition effect. Now with lyrics in subtitles.
Here are the lyrics for the second part:

I did this trial for the first time yday with my friends who already finished shadowbringers. They didn't tell me about diamond dust, just that "You'll love a part of this fight, it's awesome". When everyone froze I was panicking cause I'm the healer and thought we'd wipe or something. Then the silence kicks in and then CLICK. I was never so amazed at a boss fight in an MMO before, definitely buying the game when I reach level 60 :)

FFVII does it with Sephiroth’s Advent Children theme. The composer uses rock instruments combined with orchestra. Also, in the original theme, the orchestra packs a punch as much as rock does!

Man, I finally made the move to check this game out thanks to the even more content in trial, and man, I decided to buy shadowbringers, even tho I still play wow I only wish that first 50lvls weren't such a terrible fetch quest train... It would be so much easier to get my wow friends interested in this game!

@@Ishi112 Agreed. The end-game raids after 50 are where the real fun is at. At least they trimmed the MSQ down but the side quests at early stages are still fetchy. The crafting/gathering class quests are especially dull(and expensive)

I remember doing this fight with you on patch day at like what 5 am? I was the back mage, my brother and best friend irl were both of the tanks in this fight. Unfortunately both my brother and my friend have past away in the last few years and this game was everything to them. I never was the one to take lots of screenshots or anything so I don't have a whole lot of them with us all in it. So I just wanted to thank thank you for being in a random party with us and uploading this video so I will always be able to look back on it. This means more to me than you will ever know.

What I've always loved about Shiva is that out of every Final Fantasy game she's appeared in, despite her elemental affinity, she's never been outright *evil* and more often than not is actually kind, gentle, compassionate, and just all-around benevolent, perhaps even "motherly" at times. She's one of the few "summons" whom is basically never evil, alongside the likes of Ramuh and Bahamut (Bahamut is rarely "evil", though he is "evil" in XIV, otherwise he's usually one of the "Big Goods" in each game). I just love how for being a summon with such a cold and seemingly uncaring exterior and power-set, she's actually anything but uncaring, cold, or cruel. This is why Shiva is easily in my Top 5 when it comes to my favorite FF summons in general.

@@kurosakikun96 Shiva is only male in some interpretations btw. Shiva has been depicted as male, female, both and genderless/unpersonified. Definitely weird her namesake is all about blowing shit up though, I agree.

@@optimaltt6070 Shiva is indeed, a male God the same as Zeus is. Parvati as Shiva's wife, and the Hermaphrodite hybrid of the two known as Ardhanarishvara. While Shiva is known as the God of Destruction, he is primarily a good god, and the destruction is more akin to cleansing Evil from the soul and the extermination of evils - In fact, Shiva's most prominent title is Lord of the Dance; Given for his Dance upon the Beast of Ignorance. To let the Beast live unabated would to deny Humanity the right to obtaining knowledge; to slay it would grant Humanity an undeserved boon of absolute knowledge of the workings of all Gods and the Universe, including the ability to destroy it. So Shiva stands upon it, dancing to suppress it so that humans will remain ignorant despite access to knowledge should they choose to seek it. Similarly, Shiva's famous blue skin is a result of another of his titles, "He who Held Poison in His Throat".

The finger snap freezes you; the click that shatters the ice is actually Shiva clicking her heel.

For the rock song part I always get the vision of Shiva on stage singing it, with Garuda on guitar/backup vocals, Ramuh wearing sunglasses and playing bass, and Titan on drums.

Just did this fight not more than 5 minutes ago and I had to listen to the song again. Hearing the transition after Shiva did the Diamond Dust, I was like "Oh shit, here we go!" Best fight, and soundtrack I heard in an MMORPG from the most recent years. I'm glad I picked this game up, I just hope I'm not too late.

Finally noticed that at 1:46, the first half of the song repeats a tune from the second half ("Fragile creatures, we are taught to fight the Reaper"). Makes me appreciate them both more as equal parts of a single song.

+Jonathan Herzog OMG, I never realized the piano bits of the first part matched the vocals of the second, that's awesome! The easiest place you can tell is with the finale, 2:40 to 3:00 matching *exactly* (with slight rearrangements) 6:47 to 7:13.

first time i fought her i thought she isn't anything special. Then came the moment she used Diamond dust and snapped her fingers to start the next song. I dont know why but that moment blew my mind. it was exectuted so perfectly and beautifully even syncing with the speech bubble the added. i got me excited and i just had a blast with the rest of the fight.

I did not know about the fight having two phases So when deep freeze hit I got scared we're in for a wipe Then there was silence, a snap, and phase 2 hit I was at a loss of words by the epicness (and by loss of words I mean sitting with a gaping mouth for 1 minute and then saying "dayyyuuuuum")

Shiva's fight is the thing that sold me on this game. Around the launch of heavensward I got curious and began to dig and see just what FFXIV was. I was really impressed, but I didn't have too much money at the time and was hesitant to pay up, especially when I hadn't touched a final fantasy game in at least five years. Then I saw Shiva's fight. The music, the visuals, the mechanics, all of it was so beautiful. I was sold and bought the game right away. I haven't stopped playing since. One of the best purchases I've ever made, and at the time of writing this my girlfriend's favorite thing to play with me on weekends. I can't wait to show get to this fight with her and show her one of the most dazzling encounters I've ever experienced in a game.

One of my FC-mates did it unsynced with one of the new girls who hadn't experienced the fight before. I was so pissed at him that he would rob a player of their first experience by cheapening it into a half-minute cakewalk like that... Like, do you want to play the game as it was meant to be played, or do you want to reduce it and skip everything?

I have played FF XIV on and off for a long time. I couldn't get past the GCD and coupled with the fact that I played as a tank made the whole trip well boring. I started again a week ago to try and finish the 7th Astral quest chain ( the thing that bored me to death) and then Shiva. It was amazing tanking a a PLD that fight with this song just goosebumps. Looking forward to finish HW and SB . Just a masterpiece.

ikr but for me it was a garuda the first primal first in ffxiv and with was badass never regret until now playing those, and having good memories with my friends on FC, the only one holding me back was subcriptions lol i'm still at school and didnt make any money on myself yet when im at work i'll probably keep on my subs every month

Best part of this theme is 1:25 to 2:15. For how subtle it is, it's quite powerful and sets a very dramatic tone for this fight.

@@Hosenbund1 I did do hardcore raiding if that helps. I was a White Mage and got forced to DPS and due to bad performance as a dps and "relationships" I got pushed out despite being friends for 10 years. So I never went back.

Shiva's theme reminds me of perspective and core. Phase 1 is the full on primal self, the dragon unison and primal unison, in which it represents her 'Lore' self. The calm and historical past is reflected beautifully in the orchestral part. Then Phase 2 hits, once she sheds the Ice. It's the Iceheart persona seeping through, the modern tension between current dragons and non-dragons the once slow pace and calm pretense is stripped away to display the more human type aspect of Shiva. Inside this fake primal is the real being, Iceheart.

+DuwMinh Same reason, different action. Alonne does it out of respect of a superior warrior. A cultural thing. Shiva/Iceheart is fighting for a cause which they feel is the right thing. What I always found most interesting about the second part of the song is that it tells you something very important about your fight with Shiva without ever explicitly spelling it out. (WARNING: SPOILERS) Up until Shiva, the lyrics for every primal's theme have been about that primal, celebrating their strength and power. Titan was "wrought from the rock that stands upon old, with heart of black and a stare that's cold". Leviathan, "rising from the soundless Deep...white fury, blinding indigo". Even Ramuh was "lightning bright, thunder bold, guiding us forevermore". Shiva's lyrics, on the other hand, were about a woman on the verge of death. A woman who had succumbed to despair, trying to die and finding herself unable to. A woman who had realized her only option was to become death, to scream defiance at the society that had spurned her. Her soul steeled, and her blood grown cold; her mind made up, and her fear gone. Now, does that sound like the legendary Saint Shiva, whose death became the seed of peace between men and dragons? Or does it sound like Lady Iceheart, the heretic leader who believed it was her fate to strike down the Warrior of Light? Does it sound like the lyrics are about Shiva? Or does it sound like the lyrics are about who you're really fighting?

Hahaha, while i enjoy all the music from FFXIV, this one took my by surprise, and how it's timed with her using Diamond dust had me fanboying for a while after. (also brought me here to listen to it again, great piece) so thanks for making it easily accessible. ...yes i could BUY the soundtrack, not even that expensive, but listening to FFXIV music while not playing FFXIV.. will naturally make me sit there and make me wanna play FFXIV. so it's redundant!

I've ran this fight now at least 15 times just for the music. Absolutely adore it. Maybe it taps in to the same part of me that adores the music from The World Ends With You (at least in the second phase). Love how the 2 phases transition with the moment of calm before kicking in to full gear.

Shiva was my first extreme trial and I'll never forget wiping the first time and spawning back, having the more experienced players give tips to everyone, and ready checking to 2:14. Hearing that part for me is now synonymous with getting back up and rushing headfirst into something previously failed with renewed vigor and gained knowledge. We then proceeded to clear the trial on the second run. I'm going to carry that memory with me into everything I do from now on

When i first played this trial the second i heard the music my heart dropped and i had butterflies. The music was nothing like i ever heard before. It was just a masterpiece and i just started crying to the music because it was that damn good. I replayed the trail for like a full day just obsessed with it. For the perfect music and how it fit the fight so well. i got so hooked on it and just played the ost over and over again for like 1 week straight.
